I give up. Either the majority of users on this board are illiterate or they just don't care enough to read.
i'm pretty sure it was a howard eisley 3 in the 1st half. but it was one of the worst shot clock calls ever. this wasn't like the 2nd lowry call where the ball was on his fingertips as the clock hit 0 and anybody could miss the call, on the replay the ball was already 5 or 6 feet out of eisley's hand when the clock hit 0. and it was a long 3, like 5 or 6 feet behind the line. however, the bulls also got another shot clock call in the 4th quarter when ron harper double pumped a running jumper and the clock expired with the ball in his hands but the refs counted it. 5 point swing with those 2 calls. of course they didn't have replay back then so it wasn't like they could overturn the calls. i still remember some chronicle columnist, i think blinebury, saying those 5 points didn't matter because jordan would have found a way to win anyway.
So you can review made baskets. <- Not a question. So you can review made baskets? <- Question. Without inflection, it's up to punctuation to dictate whether or not a statement was a question. If you read the OP, the real question is "Why not review questionable calls?" But I guess you're too busy for that. If upon further review the call stands, 2 FT + possession for opposing team. Pretty straightforward system to implement.
I read your rant.... that's all I took it as. The Rockets lost another game why and how? Oh ya because the league is a joke, and the refs are the devils.
Did I once attribute our loss to it? Or maybe you're SO GOOD at reading that you can read things that weren't written.
that layup they took from Lowry was just ridiculous. The camera was way too far to be able to tell when exactly the ball left his hand, there was no way they could be 100% sure he didnt get the shot off. It should be like the NFL, unless the evidence is indisputable, let the call "on the field" stand. also the damn shot clock was at 16 when D Rose passed the ball across half court, learn ****ing math, 24-16=8 you douche bags
I don't mind reviews. If the shot shouldn't be counted, then it shouldn't be counted. BUT a review should be done BEFORE the next play begins.
This thread is dumb; it is really dumb. Both those calls were correct, why would you get on the refs for making the right calls just because they weren't our way? You want to win by incorrect calls? Then will you be alright when some other team beats us by an incorrect call. Both shots were clearly after time expired, and the clock was at 16 by the time the timeout was whistled==not an 8 second violation. This kind of stupidity really pisses me off. It is the reason the league implemented this "respect of the game" rule. Because people argue every call that goes against them, without any respect for whether it's actually a good call. We lost. That's all there is to it. It can't be put on the officials that we didn't get shots up on time.
No, actually it was very obvious the ball hadn't left his hand. Maybe you were watching low quality or something, I don't know. But the replay showed clearly that the call was correct.
Then players and coaches complain that the refs are taking away the game momentum. In fact, RA made a major deal about it during one game last season. You can't have it both ways. Personally, and I think player's agree, if there's going to be a review, it's better to have it during dead time.
But you apparently didn't read the OP, because that isn't the question. The question isn't about the Rockets game as the title implies, it's about whether judgment calls should be allowed in the NBA which means... WRONG FORUM cuddie,,, give up. you are either "wrong forum" discussing general NBA rules or indeed ranting about these calls. Which is it. <-- and that isn't a question
yes you're right it was eisley with 9mins left in the second quarter. found a video on youtube. i was going off of what i remember from when i was 10. anyways about lowry 2nd call i think if its too close to call, and the shot counts during the game, it should stay as is.
Had it been at 15 I think it would have been more credible as the timeout was called after the ball crossed. Certainly review it, but it wasn't a no brainer like the Spurs bucket in 1993 that cost the Rockets HCA against Seattle.
2nd re-post: Fine then, move the thread to NBA Dish if it really is less relevant to the Rockets than threads titled "Andre Iguodala," "Defense on an Elite PG," and "RPD Swimsuit Calendar - Vote for the Cover!" Agreed, that's improper usage of punctuation.
