How do we know Steve won't walk when his contract's up?

What if, for example, Cat was lost to the Bulls or Wizards, then Steve's contract expires? I don't think there's any question whether either team would want him, and both teams should be better by the time his contract runs out. Why wouldn't he leave?

I see a problem in putting all the eggs in one basket...

    Thoughts?

Doesn't he have a 3 year contract with a team's option for the 4th? That would put us in an extremely advantageous position, as unless he resigned for more money, he'd get rookie salary his 4th year. We'll also have his bird rights, and any team with cap room is liable to suck.

Ok, this could be wrong, but I think Steve signed up for 3 years, a team option on the fourth and then he becomes a restricted FA after that - that puts the rockets in a pretty good position.....

...of course, there's no reason Francis can't leave whenever he wants. He could do a Pippen and sulk and demand a trade - I don't see him doing it. He has said numerous times that he wants to be a "one NBA team guy" and that obviously means that he wouldn't move on.
