Most who are commenting on thompson and saying he's not better than any of our frontcourt players probably havent watched him play. He's better right now than both hill, patterson, chuck, bud, hayes, and every other frontcourt player not named scola and yao. He can play both forward spot and last year when he played consistent minutes,he produced consistently. He's a muture, young guy and adds versitility. I personally dont know why he's not playing with cousins alot more vs dalembert. I know Sam is a vets on the last year and he does provide some things, but thompson can do alot of things on the floor plus he's still developing.
When people were talking about going after Kevin Martin, I brought up the Rockets doing a trade that involved Martin and either Hawes or Thompson, but the people like RV6 claimed that neither of those guy would be available. Guess What? Hawes was traded and now Thompson is most likely available. He's a quality big.
Trade Jordan Hill for him. Thompson has more game than Hill anyway. He has a much better mid-range shot and he can rebound and block shots too. Not to mention he is taller and athletic as well.
Kings offered THOMPSON to ATLANTA for Jeff Teague and Hawks declined........... Would you trade Ish for Thompson?
I'd trade Brooks for him but we are stacked at the 4. He has been trying to play 3 at Sac but he hasn't got the hang of it. He's soft though. He hates banging in the post. He's like a bigger version of Jeff Green. Kinda sad if you ask me.
They guy was making steady progress after coming from a small school and i don't understand why the kings are trying to trade him. Someone said the rockets are stacked at the 4, but he can be part of the rebuild right now.
Here's what we know that would put the Rockets in the market to deal or not to deal for Thompson Not to deal =Stacked at the PF/C Spot -would need to trade or release multiple players to make happen =not significant enough of an upgrade to move other players Reasons to Deal =Coaching related (I assume Adelman would like to allocate JHill's minutes to a player who would fit better in his system. I like Jordan, but more than likely, Adelman wants to not play him if he doesnt have to.) =Skilled PF/C who has nice upside. =Rookie contract -overall, it seems that there really isnt a deal to be done unless it requires moving players like Jordan Hill, Jefferies, or Jermaine Taylor, plus picks in consideration. I personally believe that Adelman would push for an upgrade in Jordan Hill if it was up to him, but wouldn't force the hand of management to make a deal unless it is best for the organization long term. This isnt the blockbuster deal that Morey had been contemplating for years, but it is a move that Morey will surely inquire about it and thats why its being mentioned here.
Why not have hill and thompson as part of the future. What wrong with having 2 mobile bigs who could interchange at the 4/5?
I am definitely for this......Keep Hill and get Thompson!!! Cheap contracts on developing players. Hayes is great, but as a situational 4 only. Patterson won't see time for a long while. With the Kings supposedly going after Teague and with them even putting Thompson of the market, it looks as if they are happy with their bigs and want depth with their guards. -------Move JT or one of our PGs-----make the trade $$$$ work with filler. If either Lowry or Brooks is moved, I would expect a pick or something else coming our way. I am ok with Ish as our backup pg now.
He's a player who can step in and get it done and is exactly what the Rockets need a great passer, can run/dribble and can knock down that 18 footer. His game reminds me of like a Chris Webber Rockets should be after him he gives them length and athleticism off the bench solid player.
I'd give up Brooks as long as we have a pick coming back. Imo Lowry is a rare PG who draws a lot of fouls. Brooks is expendable imo AND for Thompson/Pick i'd do it. I thought Sacramento was high on Brooks? We proved we can win W/O Brooks, but we can't win W/O Lowry.
