I feel that SF is our weakest position.

It's true that if we had Jack we probably would have won almost every game we lost especially with his defense.

Having Jack with Bud behind him at the 3 would be huge for the Rockets and adding a player like this to the roster makes our defense and intensity so much better.

I think he would bring some aggression to the team just like Ron Ron. I am all for this to go down.

Do you think there is really a chance that the rockets would make this move, giving up Battier and JT.

    It works out... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=39o96wq

Why is Jackson available? Why not chase Wallace first then see about Jackson next. Are the Bobcats going to blow it up? If the answer is yes, then they'd want our picks which i'm not sold on giving up for a 32 year old veteran. I'd do it if we get to keep our picks he will be a good pick-up imo and brings some swagger to the team. I just cant see him running in the offense much and seems like a chugger imo. There is also rumors that Cousins could be dealt once he had 2 arguments with Sacramento personel. Do we need that kind of players here?

The bobcats are in need of a PG. If we were to try and acquire him, brooks would certainly be part of the package. I don't mind that. Brooks+battier for SJ is OK for me.

the bobcats were garbage till he got there. G-wallace was unheard of and when Jack got there all the credit went to Wallace because he's a good guy.

I'd be shocked if Morey went after jack, he's not a money ball type player or a high character guy, which is exactly why I want here :)

I agree. I think Bobcats would go for that deal. I wouldn't mind that we need toughness and a leader. Most people on this board will just look at him as a thug though. Plus Lowry would be starting and he would be getting so many assists and the team would have so much chemistry!

Yes, I do think the Rockets could be contenders with him. It's about how a player fits with the existing players, not simply whether he's a "role player" or "superstar." I think either he or Iggy would have a big impact on this team. My question for you is: Who, realistically, do you think the Rockets could get instead, to become a contender? People who think the panacea for this team is this "superstar" who's going to magically drop out of the sky and into the team's lap, without the team having to give up much of the core to get him, are going to be waiting around a long time. This whole role player versus superstar argument is the ultimate oversimplification.

If we're giving up Brooks and letting Lowry and Ish step up into the 1st and 2nd point guard spots then we should get Gerald Wallace back.

    Something like

    Brooks, Battier, 1st Round Pick

    for

    Gerald Wallace, 2nd Round pick

Would you guys go for that?

Stephen Jackson is like a case study on how deceiving per game stats are. He's an average player who takes a ton of shots and plays a ton of minutes.

No, there is no real superstars out there to get. The point is, if he just makes your team good enough to be a competitive playoff team, what is really the point of that? The Rockets have been that for the past decade...and we keep making moves like this it'll be another decade of just being competitive.

The whole superstar thing is true. You don't win championships without one, there are a few exceptions sure, but pretty much all championships have had a superstar, perennial all-star all-nba player on their team.

I'd rather hang onto our assets they may prove invaluable around draft time when superstars DO fall out of the sky and land into your lap. You look at all the Elite teams and what do they have in common? they built around a guy they drafted and work from there.

I'm just not convinced that he would make this team a contender, looking at the other teams we have to play and not factoring in Yao (because who knows with him)

I've been saying this for how long? When he first became available at GState I said this, but I was shot down by all the usual haters and you were probably one of them.

Stephen Jackson is a proven winner. He's won everywhere he's went and played an important role in the process. He plays well on both sides of the court, brings toughness, the ability to perform when the pressure is on, and isn't injury prone.

This is what Captain Jax can do for you in the playoffs. Keep in mind that this was an elimination game:

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BHSguZbGK0w?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BHSguZbGK0w?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

With all that said, Iggy would be my first choice followed by Jax.
