From RA's face, it always seems he tell us he can do nothing for those tough time except looking score difference being expanded and waiting loss clock.
This improvement can be attributed to the fact that Hill worked on his game this summer with CD and other developmental coaches. Adelman can't even get his rotation starters to execute his plays properly, you think he has the time to develop players who are sitting on the bench?
I'll assume that the rolleyes thing means that this is a sarcastic comment and isn't to be taken seriously? Because if it is: yes- I think you've hit the nail on the head. The only input coaches have into their players is during a basketball game. They play no part in telling the 'development' coaches what they would like to see their big men work on over the summer; they spend no time at the practice sessions showing players what to do - all the head coach does is sit on the bench and wonder what's going wrong as yet another game slips away.... (caution: some sarcasm in post - point is to show roslolian's quoted post is flawed)
THIRD!!! or whatever it is now... it's either we get an offensive guy or defensive guy...its weird we can't get both...i gotta believe we'll turn around quick...
come on, everybody knows that part of RA's wins are based on JVG's defensive system which has been mentally set in some players' mind. with more new faces coming in, the pure RA's system collapsed like this season look at the problem dynamically
Yes yes - because the team didn't IMPROVE defensively under Adelman in his first year. And Adelman didn't have a top 5 defensive team every year with Sacto. BUT oUr deFenzzor was terrible last year?!? Correct - which means Adelman can actually adapt according to the players he has? Astounding.
I wanted to bump this, watching the Blazers-Thunder game. Van Gundy is talking about something else, then A.Miller picks up his dribble then pump fakes and gets to the line. JVG just changes subjects right away. "I'm going to lose my mind if someone else falls for that."
Van Gundy teams are never embarrased and are often feared. I hated losing him. But I never thought RA was the answer. It was a total overreaction from a defensive minded coach to one that is an offensive one....and now our team is soft as ****. I rather have Gundy hands down. But you know us "grew up in Houston but now live in NYC" guys. We have man crushes on the JVG!
With adelman 22-0, pass 1st round of playoffs, above .500 last season w/out yao and tmac and gundy what?????? not even pass 1st round of playoffs
I actually thought this would be ideal, but now I think it probably won't work. With van Gundy it wasn't just about getting guys to play defense, but having players with defense mentality out there in the first place. (McGrady being the exception.) If you didn't defend the right way, you were immediately yanked from the game until JVG felt you would. JVG's idea of who should be out on the court and which matchups should be exploited and Adelman's idea would be vastly different. I'm not sure van Gundy would be willing to play with the cards Adelman deals out.
*laugh* Embarrassing Record setting 40 point loss in Game 7 against the Mavs. Multiple pathetic scoring records set against the Jazz in the playoffs. Lost 2-0 leads in both best of 7 series. Embarrassed by the Jazz in game 7 on their own homecourt.... ....which ultimately cost him the coaching job. Jerry Sloan pretty much b****-slapped Gundy that series.
To be fair, Adelman had a better team than JVG ever had during his tenure as Rockets coach...and Adelman had Yao Ming in that first round series to take us into the 2nd round... ...but yes, I had big problems with JVG's all too predictable offensive sets and stubborn insistence to use Rafer Aston.
