Alright, forgive my ignorance in advance.

I know the Rockets acquired the opportunity to "swap" picks with the Knicks in 2011 and 2012 as part of the T-Mac trade. I also know that the picks are protected to some extent.

My question is what is the protection on the picks? and is it the option to swap both years, or do we get one of the seasons outright?

I searched other places for this but couldn't find it. Sorry if I over-looked.

We don't have a knicks pick, we have only the right to swap (as you eluded to). The knicks pick is protected if it is the top pick this year, and a top 5 pick next year...

Clutch or Bima (don't remember) wrote a long article about the picks a while ago. Can't find it though.

You need to update this page Clutch, ;) .

Thanks pizza...I was pretty certain we only had the option to swap. I knew there was protection but didn't know what it was.

2011 is a draft position swap.
2012 is not a swap, but the Knick's pick.

The Knicks pick that matters today is Jordan Hill.
