Why? Clay Matthews works well in the 3-4 and his sole job is to pass rush. Cushing is better in coverage and is just as good of a pass rusher as Matthews.
Why, because Matthews has been better this season? (in large part because Cush missed 4 games and has been playing out of position) Cushing was arguably the best linebacker in the NFL last year and better than Clay
Cushing has ground to make up for. Not for the 4 games missed, statistically, but getting into midseason form, and being the kind of player OC's need to focus on neutralizing (while still failing to do so). Clay may have been worse last year, but he was still in the running for DROY and is definitely in there for DPOY now. It is a somewhat unfair comparison since SLB is usually dwarfed by a 3-4 OLB on the box score.
If you think John McClain is bad, you have no idea just how bad it can get. Case in point: Mickey Spagnola does the Cowboys report for Dallascowboys.com. When asked POINT BLANK what makes him think that Jason Garrett can turn things around for Dallas, his response was and I quote: "Look at his press conference after taking over from Wade. He stood up and met the media. Wade always sat down during his press conferences. That shows you right there Jason has serious leadership skills...".
I hope that's not true... because if it is then that's what's wrong with a lot of these professional teams nowadays... I understand the owners want their teams to do well and they have their opinions on how they want to run their business... but why hire a guy to do the job if you're going to influence him to do it your way?!
Did you really quote and rep yourself? I guess your comment didn't come off as witty as you thought it would.
I thought it'd be fairly witty. No one else thought so, but I believe it's the underrated comment of the year. People always be jockin.
