    Apparently considered extremely difficult by some adults :confused:

    Oh and there are only squares, triangles and circles. I just suck at using Paint so they might look like rectangles or ovals.

    This is a difficult question to answer. But luckily ALL Chinese people are good at math.

    I haven't figured out the problem yet, but this isn't a math problem. More of a logic problem or brainteaser.

    I don't remember doing this in my first grade...

    I've also done some mathcounts in junior high, granted that was a long time ago, and I'm still don't understand the problem.

    You got me.

    I'm leaning towards there's not enough context. We don't know what the kids were studying prior to being given this puzzle.

    I've worked it five times, and I came up with the same answer each time. Even used my calculator once. The answer is 3,876,203,503,945.2835

    Answer

    I think it's 7:

    square = 1
    circle = 2
    triangle = 5

    if the corners don't touch, it's addition
    if the corners do touch, it's subtraction

    so, 5+2 = 7

    Yea, that's what I got too, but how the heck is a first grader supposed to know this? And using shapes is very misleading.
