If they do this, then I might just get a PS2. I am a huge fan of XBOX, but this would probably sway me the other way... http://msnbc-cnet.com.com/2100-1040-959608.html?type=pt&part=msnbc&tag=alert&form=feed&subj=cnetnews
I already have a PS2, and I really like it, but this is incredible. I just got it for games. Now it is a DVD player, an internet...uh..thing, and a soon-to-be TV recorder. Granted, I assume X-Box may incorporate something similar eventually, but this is pretty cool. Can't wait for the PS3. I wonder what that's going to be like. Maybe a video game console that also slices, dices, chops, and maybe even cooks food. Maybe the PS6 will let you live in it. And maybe the PS10...wait I'm going WAY too far off.
hey i also heard that they are coming out with new ps2 kits that will wipe your ass and tell you you're beautiful too. isnt that great?
Rumor is that the new X-Box will be a combo of the Xbox & Tivo. Some sort of attachment might even be release before the X2. Anyway, I still don;t understand the draw of the PS2. Sorry graphics & sound. No hard drive. Can't save old PS1 games b/c the mem cards won't do it. Only new game it has over the Xbox is Vice City. A cool game, granted, but once its been beaten you have the same exact games as Xbox left...
Right...how about better games? Or maybe a wider variety? Sure, X-Box is good at action games and sports games, but I don't think it has any RPG's. I'm a RPG fan. The PS2 has virtually every good RPG series in it, and a lot will be coming out soon. So the PS2 has better RPG's. Most of the action and sports games are also on the PS2, just not as great looking. I'm find with that. But that's just my preference. If I only wanted graphics, and stuff like that, I'd pick the X-Box. BTW, although it doesn't start with one, the PS2 can have a hard drive. I think I knew what you meant, but I'm just pointing that out. edit: Since PS2 cards don't work, why don't you try getting some PS1 cards? Makes sense to me. I actually just use my old ones from my PS1.
Sorry graphics & sound? Although the Xbox is superior in both of those areas, there are certain games on the PlayStation 2 that are comparable in visual quality to Xbox games (with the possible exception of the very best-looking Xbox games, like Halo 2). The upcoming survival horror game "Silent Hill 3" comes to mind. A developer that is talented enough and experienced/knowledgeable enough about the PS2 architecture is certainly capable of creating incredible-looking and sounding games on the system. No hard drive? Well, the PS2 does have a 40 GB hard drive, but unlike the Xbox HDD it is a separate accessory instead of being built-in. The PS2 hard drive is out in Japan; no idea on when it will come to the States (probably sometime next year, perhaps to coincide with Final Fantasy XI's stateside release whenever that may be.) And GTA: Vice City isn't even out yet... Mindshare is a major reason why the PS2 is so popular. With the massive success of the PS1, the name "PlayStation" has become a big household name. Ask anyone about "PlayStation" and there's a pretty good chance they'll have at least some inkling of what you're talking about. Also, the PS2 has the largest and most diversified selection of games this gen. Anyway, PS2 being used to record TV shows is pretty cool. I almost expected something like this to be announced because Sony stated from the beginning that they wanted the PS2 to be an all-around entertainment center, not just a game console/DVD player.
