Brad Miller- Maybe, but only because we aren't using him right!

Lowry- not even close!! As soon as he gets back to playing like he used to y'all will love him again!! Ish is very good and has a ton potintial but keep in mind who we played last night!! I could get some assists with Ridnour and Telfair gaurding me! I think we ate jumping on the ish band wagon too soon! Lowry and Brooks are both better!

Also keep in mind that Miller, KL, and Scola all become valuable non-guaranteed contracts in their last years. Yet another example of our front office creating value

Miller looks like a bad signing now, but there is a lot we don't see. We don't know how much he's helping mentor the team in practice, though it seems like not much right now. I'm guessing that we weren't all that high on Hill, and he's actually doing better then expected. We also didn't know that Dampier would be available, and would have held out for him instead of Miller.

Personally, seems like a waste to me. I don't think he's any more useful then Jeffries, if that. I'd rather have Jeffries out there for the most part.

Who said the Rocket's had that chance? Why would Lowry or his agent agree to a cheaper contract than he did? I mean it's great in theory to offer him a lower contract and see if he takes it, though you may insult him by low balling him in this way. But it is far from a given that he or his agent would have agreed to this lower contract when they both know other teams are likely to offer more, which was proven out by the contract we matched.

Miller is insurance in case Yao gets hurt.

You clearly ignored that there were many teams going after Miller and not Shaq. Miller is easily better, just because he isn't a complete idiot loudmouth like Shaq.

Miller can hit the wide open jumper, after that it goes down hill. Doesn't play D and inept at rebounding. Constantly mugging people in the paint and sending them to the free throw line. Can't get back on D, slower than Yao.

That's why Jordan Hill is getting the back up center minutes. The money to Miller was a retirement gift to Brad. $15 mil over 3 yrs. Get real, Stevie Wonder can see that was a bad contract.

We're locked in a contract with a washed-up guy with absolutely no trade value. Bad signing.

Dampier would also be a panic signing.

Lowry is paid way too much for a back-up. Either ship AB or Lowry. Either or...

Miller is not a good contract. I'm sorry.

Kyle health issue is what is holding him back and not living up the contract. In the other hand Scola has worth every single dollar so far.

We suck when Lowry doesn't suit up, because Brook can't handle being a full time PG. He can't contol tempo.

That said, Lowry was certainly more expensive than I thought he would be.

This has been said multiple times (even in this thread) but once more:

At the moment, it's more likely it will be 10mil over 2 years.

    (4.4 + 4.8 + 0.8) when he is cut before 30 June, 2012.

See, thats the shallow reality many of us having been living under.

The thing is, Kyle has potential. Scola can only get worse. Scola will age and his contract, which looks like a bargain right now, will only get lower in value. Whereas Kyle, he will be better and better and even though his contract looks bad right now, he is going to get better and better stats and will eventually justify and probably even more than worth his contract.

    Conley got like 50 million..

conley is definately not worth 50 million. he is the most inconsistent starting point guard in the nba today. he'll play like john stockton one night, then play like anthony carter the next night. grizzlies prolly shoulda kept lowry, but lionel hollins loves conley so much fortunately, and trust conley to run the offense consistently for some strange reason.

Except lowry seems to get hurt a bunch. He missed a bunch of games last year. He missed like most of his rookie year too.

hes not really injury-prone so I dont think it matters. he's built like a tank so its not hes kevin martin with a fragile frame that is weaker.

his injuries were mostly very minor. kinda like those sprains and twists u'd have playing pickup basketball. now if he tore his acl or something thats another story...but its not. hes got nothing broken before.l

This. Although the contract could actually be viewed as even better than that.

It's $4.4M this year, then Miller's essentially a $4.752M expiring contract next season. After next season, when Miller's $5.104M salary is only guaranteed for $848k if waived before June 30, 2012, it makes Miller a VERY valuable trade asset leading up to (and including) the 2012 NBA Draft, when the Rockets will also (as of now) have multiple first round picks.

Two years. $9,152,000. And a potentially very valuable trade asset for the 2012 NBA Draft and/or the February 2012 trade deadline, assuming that the new CBA does not drastically alter the soft salary cap system.

While that's still a bit more than I would have liked to pay if I were Les Alexander, it's not THAT bad. Good foresight by the front office to structure this contract in a way to turn it into an asset on the back end. The same thing was done with Lowry's and Scola's contract, by the way.
