Ariza (per 36 minutes): 10.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists to 1.7 turnovers, 2.1 steals, .340 FG%, .333 3P%, .479 TS% Lee (per 36 minutes): 14.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists to 0.6 turnovers, 1.8 steals, .405 FG%, .300 3P%, .503 TS% Obviously not the complete statistical picture, but from this, it looks like Lee is doing a better job at everything but rebounding and shooting three pointers (but he's still more efficient overall). All that, plus he's cheaper and fills a position of greater need. So far I don't see the problem here. Ariza sucked, and he still sucks.
If CP3 goes down with an injury again this season, it will be Ariza's team. Then, we will see how much winning Ariza does.
You completely forget that ariza was a great defender because we got rid of him so all of a sudden he's just a horrible shooter (which IMO he's still better than Lee since he takes more shots and still averages the same as lee in FG %. Lee's stats are from NJ? Because he's taken fewer shots but most of them were bricks for the rockets. And again..his defense is ok, but i saw him get beat a couple times against the wolves(the worst team in the league). And also, he runs point as badly as Jermaine Taylor, and we all know JT is very awkward and not goin to make it in the nba.
Nobody is discounting Trevor as a defender but he was a bad shooter last year and he still is. I liked Trevor but Lee is a solid player who could start for alot of teams. And FYI there is a big difference in 34% and 40% shooting.
Forget about last year's stats. Those stats are for this year. Even CP3's passes can't help Ariza get above 35%.
We traded a starter for a bench player, so how can he be his replacement. Obviously, you are missing the purpose of that trade.
I still don't get your point, or the reason you created this thread, we didn't bring Lee to be a replacement for Ariza, it was all about saving money.
Lee is getting a bad rap from a couple missed free throws. It was his first game of 20+ mins and seemed like he may not have had his legs. I think if you give him more playing time you will be more and more impressed with him. Even when his shooting isn't on he always brings defensive intensity - getting ball deflections and steals. No way is his contract bad - in fact its a bargin!
i hated ariza, he gambles so much and it causes scola and hayes to become shotblocker. which both of them suck at it. we all know morey overpaid for him
When the trade went down we had 3 players in the SF position (the glut referred to by a previous poster) and only one player at the SG position. Lee's contract is about 1/5 the size of Ariza's and half as long. Who is the better player probably had little to do with the trade. I like Lee more anyways.
