I used it once. I was driving to PA, I was on my 13th hour of straight driving.. I figured I would pop one to see if I could at least make it to Cleveland. All it did was make me really angry, I swear I felt like I was going to just ram the car into someone just because of how mad I was. So I stay away from them. I might go on a killing spree or something if I take it again.
I tried a 5-hour energy once.... I was so tired I took a nap about 4 hours into it. Maybe it works better when you're not completely exhausted.
i never found any energy drinks to really help. i just drink them time to time because i like the taste of it.
True. I had to use the MAX version this past week as I'm able to take a nap easily an hour after taking a regular one. I LOVE the taste of coffee but it kills my stomach. These things make my belly happy.
If it is really just concentrated caffeine, how does it possibly last 5 hours? I would think even high doses of caffeine wouldn't really have lingering effects after 2-3 hours...but I'm not a doctor or anything. Maybe it really does last that long.
I think i might try taking vitamin B-Complex pills. Is there any particular brand you recommend or does it matter.
5 hour energy and all the other energy drinks are a complete waste of money. Its vastly overpriced CAFFEINE for Gods sake. Do yourself a favor, make your morning coffee a little stronger. If you don't need the boost now, but it in a little plastic container and drink it later. It even tastes better, cold, than the 5 hour energy ****.
NOW Foods is a good brand. They even include the co-enzyme that is needed for maximum absorption and usage. Don't waste your money on the GNC type crap. All it will do is make your urine super yellow...at least you can see your money literally going down the drain. Check out vitaglo.com for the cheapest prices. Nowfoods.com for info on other supplements.
I think they work a little bit. And I drink a lot of coffee everyday anyway. I had one called 3FX or something that they were handing out at a NFL alumni golf tourney I was working that had triple the active ingredients of a 5 hour and it rocked pretty good ... but it was promotional and I can't seem to find it.
It's not concentrated caffeine. It's Vitamin B complexes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-hour_Energy http://www.5hourenergy.com/ingredients.asp So really, it's the same as a bunch of other stuff that's out there. What are your preferences? Do you want a pill or do you want a shot of liquid?
I took it once on a long drive where I was falling asleep almost from the beginning. It kept me up the entire drive, and I would definately use it again in that situation. No headache for me later, either.
Um, wha? From their website, your link, http://www.5hourenergy.com/ingredients.asp#Caffeine : [rquoter]...Caffeine Provides a boost of energy and feeling of heightened alertness.* Original 5-Hour Energy contains caffeine comparable to a cup of the leading premium coffee. Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy contains caffeine comparable to 12 ounces of the leading premium coffee. Decaf 5-Hour Energy contains about as much caffeine as a half cup of decaffeinated coffee....[/rquoter] The rest is just mumbo jumbo to make you forget that you're taking a lot of caffeine. Caffeine + placebo effect = $ profit $.
If it has the same amount of caffeine as a cup or, for the extra strength, 12 ounces of coffee, why is the placebo effect in your equation? Caffeine is caffeine - a really strong drug. It works.
Yep. If you give someone a caffeine pill and tell them it's a miracle energy/alertness pill, and they believe you, they'll stay awake longer than if you give them a caffeine pill and tell them it's a sedative.
