Camby is always hurt. I am still on the Cato bandwagon. He may have fallen off, but I still believe in him!

i don't think rudy wanted bo even when he was a free agent. you're right, imo, rudy does have a bias against players who can't shoot very well.

however, it makes sense to be that way. why have someone on the court that is an absolute offensive liability? even if you can prevent the other team from scoring, you're playing 4 on 5 on offense. given a choice, you take a player that can at least be a "threat" on the court. it's the very reason shandn andersn is not on this team.

I was kinda hoping that you would hold your breath until someone around here

    A: agrees with your opinion
    or
B: you can give some basis for your opinion

    kermit,

    think about what you're saying:

    player 1 is an underachiever
player 2 is an emotional mess

and that's why this deal can't happen?

    then you finish beautifully:

since we can't get shaq, we CAN'T have a quality big man in the middle!

way to represent yourself, kermie. way to go.

Shaq isn't the only center in the NBA. But using your logic unless a team has Shaq then they don't have a center, and that is ridiculous. Last time I checked 15 teams got to the playoffs without having Shaq in the middle. And Shaq hasn't won an NBA title every year he has been in the league so it's possible to win a champinoship without Shaq. And Ming, the #1 pick in the draft, a guy who tore it up in China, was voted the best center in international play, yet you're writing him off before seeing him play one exhibition game. Why, because he's really tall like Shawn Bradley? But if you want to hold your breath go right ahead. I've said this about Jordan so I guess I'll have to say it about Shaq. Shaq isn't god, and the Rockets don't play Shaq and the Lakers 82 times a year so who cares about not having Shaq?

kalmit67:- Where are you from and what made you a Rockets Fan? Your downing of Yao Ming is not very friendly of you. There are several members that would like to take you and verbaly abuse you for this FIRST POST. All I can say is you must not know too much about Yao Ming! If he ever gets here he will become the next great Center and take the mantle from Shaq in about FOUR years.

I would like to get rid of Cato, but not that bad. Camby is as tough as tissue paper.

I don't think Denver would offer us Camby for Cato. They'r rebuilding, and Cato's contract is not good for what they're trying to do.

But, if it were somehow possible, then it would be quite nice to have a bench that consists of Moochie, KT, and Camby. That's incredible spark off the bench, don't you think?

About Bo Outlaw, I can't believe no one mentioned that we tried to acquire him TWICE the past few years, but were denied.

Man, I'd love to have Bo Outlaw backing up the 3 and 4.

Bo Outlaw has slowed, and would be a lame duck on offense against the zone

    tuus

Knicks would LOVE Cato.. but they do they have anything Houston would want?

Alexander said Cato was doing great at Westside, and Cato is a good back up 5. The fact he is working out at Westside is a big plus. I say give Cato a chance, he may just surprise us. Afterall, when he thought he might get traded last year he really started to pick it up. Knowing Yao is coming, he may be doing the same again.

I am from Houston, and I lhave been a rockets fan since 1980.
I was not "downing" Yao Ming, I was simply pointing out, that he is a rookie, a tall rookie, but a rookie none the less, and given that he has been impressive in the worlds, and international tourneys, he still has not faced NBA caliber centers.

If you read the whole post, I said at the end, that he may develop in a few years, but I don't think he will come in and be an immediate impact player, given time yes, but not immeditate, especially since he is going to miss half of training camp.

As far as taking Shaq's mantel, thats a pretty big order, and IMO as long as Shaq is healthy and hungry, the Lakers will be the team to beat for the next 4 to 5 years, even the mighty Shaq will eventually bow down to father time.

I was hoping I had joined a non-pornographic BBS, and now I get to read about people "feeling off" and being on top of Cato. Blech. Please clean it up, Stevie, especially if you're going to talk about Cad'oh! :D

I just don't think you trade one problem child for another.

As far as Shaq, do you think that there is another big man that can play him one on one?

He's proven the last 3 years that that isn't so!

Don' get me wrong, I'm not a big Shaq fan, but I do respect the fact, that he is the most dominant big man in the league right now, nobody else is even close.

I will give you this, Vladie, the flopmaster, seems to give him fits, but still can't hold him alone.

I'd say, that Kalmit, uses commas, a little too much, when he is trying, to get his point, across.

Yao, he will be good, even as a tall rookie, and, he will provide, help even when, he is trying to, learn the NBA game.

The last time I checked, of the 15 teams that got to the playoffs without Shaq, exactly 0 of them have won a championship in the last 3 years.

I'm saying Shaq is God, far from it, and if you read my other replies, I was not "downing" Ming, I was just saying that Shaq is IMO the dominant big man in the game today, and as long as he is stays healthy and hungry, he should remain that way for the next 4 or 5 years.
Does this mean 4 or 5 more championships in a row automatially?
Well, that's ludicrious at best, but IMO, it does mean that the Lakers at least make it to the Conf. Finals if not the Championship round for the next few years, and a few more rings isn't totally out of the question, as hard as that is to stomach.
