Lamond Murray available for a little more than a bag of Doritos; are we interested?

Think the Cavs are a wee bit desperate to ditch Lamond Murray? You don't know the half of it.

They are considering swapping their leading scorer for 4th string center Michael Stewart.

Bob Finnan of the Morning Journal writes that the two sides are talking but, according to Cavs GM Jim Paxson, "nothing is imminent".

What if we offered Glen Rice, KT, and Moochie Norris for Lamond Murray and Tyrone Hill?

    Or simply Rice for Murray?

We can do better than Micheal Stewart. SF is our weakest position, since an improvement is available so cheap, why shouldn't we go for it?

On NBA.com, it showed that Cleveland has already traded Jumaine Jones for Mateen Cleaves. But I also heard that it fell through so I'm not sure what's going on. Anyways, They get rid of Miller, Jones, and now Murray. They must really want to tank it bad this season. Shooting for the Lebron James lottery and freeing cap space to go after Big free agents in 2003.

Yeah, all those FA's who are dying to go to Cleveland right? ;) lol

The Jones-Cleaves deal fell through because Cleaves had a fracture in his foot and failed a medical.

Rice makes more money than Murray 9 million a year vs 7 million a year. But if their salaries matched up and if the Cavs wanted Rice I would go ahead and do the trade.

I think from this thread of the Chronicle article, CD explains:

The Rockets' offseason roster changes might have been set since draft night, but the team's overhaul, Dawson said, is all but done.

"Now we have a lot of pieces that after this year, the team will change very little from now on," Dawson said. "They will have a chance to grow. The chemistry will build. Instead of major pieces, there will be tinkering."

If, as the old saw goes, the toughest positions to fill are point guard and center, then the Rockets believe they have accomplished much during the offseason.

Like I said since we started on getting Lewis...

    Enough said. Delete thread.

Chemistry is not going to be there early season ANYWAY with all the new players joining. GM's say that stuff all the time. I'm not saying they lie, I'm saying that if the opportunity arises to improve your team, just do it.

Our chemistry is tinkered with and has to build from almost scratch. Mo Taylor, Yao Ming, Bostjan Nachbar, Tito Maddox and Tierre Brown have not played ONE minute with Rice. From the rest of the team, no one has played with Rice more than 20 games.

This is the BEST time NOT to worry about chemistry, because we're building it from almost scratch anyway.

I think Rice is a much better offer for Cleveland than Stewart. I don't know about Setwart's contract, but they say it's huge. Rice has 2 years left on his, and he might not even play the 2nd. In addition, who better to teach Darius Miles how to hit a jumper or a 3? He gives Cleveland some much needed 3-pt shooting with the departure of Wes Person and eventually Lamond Murray, 2 of the best 3-pt shooters in the league.

Is there any reason we SHOULDN'T acquire him?

The only one I could think of is if Lamond has a multi-year contract. I don't think I want him if he has any more than three years remaining...preferably two. We don't want him causing salary cap issues when we're trying to sign Ming, Nachbar, and/or Griffin to contract extensions. And furthermore, the only person I'd consider trading for him is Glen Rice...and maybe a bag of cheesy poofs. :)
