Would you consider Houston to be one of the most diverse places in the world?

In the world? Probably not, but definitely top 5...It's definitely more diverse than Dallas...That's one of the many things I love about Houston, it's diversity which translates to hot, exotic looking women...mmmm

Besides the obvious places like NYC, LA, and San Francisco, Houston is definitely up there in the list.

Black, white, latino, Asian, you name it.

Houston is more diverse than NYC or LA. Not so sure about San Fran, but I would guess Houston is more diverse than it too. Crazy huh?

This from a talk given by Stephen Klineberg.

    I don't find Houston's diversity appealing... and I'm a native Houstonian.

Yikes... that sounds kind of racist man. Just based on food choices alone, I LOVE the diversity in this city. I can get pho, falafel, jambalaya, chicken & waffles, street tacos, barbecue, sushi, burgers & fries, handmade tagliatelle, fajitas, kung-pao chicken, cuban sandwiches, carne guisado, dim sum (I could go on for hours)... and it's all really, really good. In some parts of the city, you can get all of the above within a 1 - 5 mile radius.

Of course food is only a small part of what diversity brings to the city, but even the most xenophobic racist (not calling you that) would have to tip his cap if he ever sat down to perfect bowl of pho.

My grandmother (not from this country) lives in Chinatown.... east of 59 on Bellaire, and those Asian grocery stores are amazing if you're someone who likes to cook. I would've never been exposed to half of my rambling list above if I'd lived somewhere significantly less diverse, and I could imagine living life that way.

Not racist. I'm a mixed race. I do like the food diversity - gotta agree with that one.

LOL - man, do you ever make a comment that doesn't somehow involve women?

I've been all over the country and the world. Houston is easily as diverse as anywhere you're likely to find, if not more so. Pretty much the only thing about this that irritates me is that we don't get recognized for it.

I'm trying to figure out a way in which you aren't suggesting I take my minority self out of Houston to make it a nicer place for you but I'm not coming up with anything.

I don't think I've heard of a more diverse city than Houston. Having lived in the North for most of my life I can say that diversity there doesn't include integration as it does in Houston. Chicago, for example, has large minority populations and draws people from all over the world but minorities generally feel constrained to their ethnicly specific burrows unless they have money. Our kids are at Awty and there are students from more than 150 countries attending there. People come here because they work in oil, or to go to school and they stay in Houston because they really feel welcome (unless they met Dr. Oxford) and I probably love the diversity here enough to make up for at least one person that doesn't.

by diverse do you mean he many different people?

cause quite frankly, there are too many places nowaday that has every race to claim anyone being a top city.

Toronto is rather diverse as well. Canada handles race rather differently than we do and I think that helps. I know it is completely illegal to ask about race on forms or surveys.

Also, i have heard many times that people like Houstons weather too.
I've noticed that a lot of Chicagoans have moved here as well as many other northerners.
