It stood as its own thread for hours, but as you saw, several complained that it was a duplicate of an existing discussion thread. We're not singling you out... we have thousands of fans that post here and we have to organize discussions as best we can.
And, No one cares! I have never heard that threat before. You must have a very high opinion of your own posts... Thank you for gracing us with your presence...
it feels like they're expecting hayes to basically do what landry did, and it just doesn't work, landry got blocked a fair bit, but he was really consistent when he didn't.
I agree. I'd prefer not to put him at the 5 and have him be the weak-side shot blocker when Miller is in. He seems like more of an off-the-ball shotblocker. If he gets a few minutes at the 5, I don't mind, just so we have that flexibility, but not real minutes.
i disagree strongly with most ppl ITT... there is a reason hill doesnt see the floor, he sucks. i dont see how most of you can't see it when you watch him play.
For a minute of two in the beginning of the 2nd half of the last qtr, I didn't realize Brad Miller was in for Yao. Man, was he as slow as Yao? He likes to hang out on the perimeter and if he doesn't hit he is pretty much useless b/c he is not a deadeye 3p shooter either. Al Harrington burned us. That was the key.
I don't understand why Rick hasn't played him yet, (I know he played like 1 minute in the nuggets game), is there something between him and Rick, the guy is really athletic and can defend the rim better than CHuck and Brad. when he came in last game he got like 2 blocks and 2 rebound, we should definitely play this guy alot more.
Rick Adelman and Daryl Morey disagree. He is quite good, just inconsistent. They like his game, and his talent and skills are easily apparent. He has not been playing basketball for all that long, either.
That's all speculations. You are talking about a player Hill MAY become in the future. He has shown some in the preseason and may deserve 8-10 min a game. But he's far away from better than those guys on your list. Remember when Stromile came and performed well in preseason? Don't be fooled by highlights. Like the couch said, we need to see the consistency first. Take Scola for example, he doesn't have a loat of highlights but he is the most consistent player on the roster. Rick can be slow in substitution sometime. But not using Hill extensively is not a problem. Hill is NOT the savior.
Brad Miller, Jared Jeffries and Chuck Hayes, right now, at this very moment, suck complete ass. I'll take the potential over the definitive ass suckage.
As things are right now, there is 0 risk in playing Hill instead of Chuck, Jared, etc. You can't get much worse than they are playing right now. Why not develop that potential until Chuck, Jared & Co. get out of the slump they are obivously in right now? They are not like MJ or LeBron to just play through a bad period. If they suck, they go to the bench, it's that simple.
I agree with this. What someone can do in flashes is not the same as what he will do consistently. Rick has pointed this out already in comments regarding Hill. I would probably agree that he will become more consistent with more playing time. But we need to right the ship first. Then insert him situationally to get him some minutes.
Nah, we need at least 10 games to make major rotation like that. You don't TRY different things after only 3 games. What if you put Hill in there for 20-30 mintues and we lose another 3 games? Change the rotation again? It's not fantasy game where you can try whatever you think would work.
We know that for the last 5 seasons, neither of them could play O. They got their stints because they played D. They made boneheaded mistakes and the coach didn't bench them. It's not about trying, it's all about adjusting and developing. Hayes and Jefferies won't just quickly "get better". Either a matchup pans out to fit them, or NOT. They won't make any miracle adjustments, because they can't, because they are limited. You don't try the player, you try the damned matchup. If Chuck can't defend a guy, can't get stops, it's not about trying Jordan Hill as a player, over 82 nights. It's about trying Hill in a specific matchup on a specific night. Do you see the difference? I don't think he should start or get in automatically, but he should be tried if Jefferies and Hayes don't work in a defensive matchup. That simple. Coach didn't try to adjust by using him, he sticked to the other two who were clearly outplayed then and there.
Theres a reason y he only got 1min. in that brief period of time he made 2fouls and a stupid careless turnover. He did get a block and change another shotbut until he can stop being a bonehead, he'd proably get more minutes. I truly believe thats wats holding him back. Maybe his basketball IQ is not up to par.
I've been a Hill fan since we got him, but if we can get value for him in a trade, I say trade him. As for his PT, I'm cool with the Rox taking their time, though it's disappointing. I would not be happier if they played him and he did 8 ppg, 5 rpg. All I really want is, that they are bringing him along according to some plan, that we'll see him doing real things by playoff time, and that RA isn't pulling a D'Antoni with him.
