He is also a big man who can shoot from the outside. This could help spread the defense as well. Bring him on.

I'd take him over Melo but I don't think we have a shot.

I would love the trade but I don't have a lot of confidence that Smith can or WANTS to play SF.

Bibby + Smith for Brooks, Battier, Jeffries and Taylor + 2012 NY pick. OK, it's not realistic. But what if...

Per the link in the OP: There are other players on the roster they'd rather move first, so speculating on where Josh Smith could land is not only pointless, it is highly unlikely that he's shopped seriously, let alone moved.

    Nothing to see here...

He would be a beast with Yao. They would lock down the paint. He's what Stromile Swift should've been and then some.

No one is speculating where Josh Smith could land, the question that was asked is do you think he would be a good fit in Houston if he became available.

    really?

He's extremely overrated. He has the tools but not the motor or smarts.

Josh moth with thisteam over Melo ....iggy...and Wallace ...we need someone to contest the drive and having that done from our 3 would be awesome...switch him out with bud and move him to the 4 and you resally solve most if our worries...it won't kill you as bad with Martin and Brooks d.

Tell then to contest all shots and if you get burned Josh and Yao will take care of the drive. I think he is the perfect player for us.

Wait, Josh Smith from the Hawks, right? I'm pretty sure he's a below average shooter. Last year they were praising him for not taking threes any more.

if we were to try and get J-Smith, we would have to get rid of JT, Jeffries and either Brooks or J-Hill, for the money to match...personally, I'd rather send off J-Hill.

Nothing in these articles come close to saying Josh Smith is "up for grabs," just speculations that he might be because ATL has several big contracts.

Smith doesn't fit here at all. He is predominantly a PF, not a SF and he has no outside shot. If they are going after an all star, it needs to be a sf.

...surprised(well maybe not) that no one has mentioned that he has a rep as being a bit of a locker room cancer. I like his skills on the court but worry about paying him a lot of money to be our star. Yao simply cant be that person while playing reduced minutes and if smith were to come here to try to be the man we could have Ariza 2.0. If Melo is here, that's a different story.

I think Josh Smith would be MUCH better suited for this team as the "Carl Landry" type of role player off the bench, rather than be our starting SF.

Unfortunately, he doesn't make Carl Landry type money, and I seriously doubt he'd be willing to accept that type of role anyways.
