Battier's offensive liability can no longer be ignored

He didn't leave him in order to help the other players out on those occasions. As far as in other games,it's been mostly due to lack of lateral quickness.

 

oh ok...i wouldnt count the lack of quickness as a mistake...and although you didnt mention this, a lot of posters see him getting picked off and see that as a mistake as well

Father time has caught up to him,,the guy is one even two steps slower...Shane is part of the problem but i reckon our team defense has been struggling lately especially when Yao is out.

He hasn't been good on defense either. I agree, it's time to see Shane play way fewer minutes or get traded

he's been an offensive liability for longer than 3 games brother. i still can't get that pathetic layup that he tried in the lakers game. how can an NBA player attempt a layup like that?

I can't remember the last time Battier has stopped Kobe on a drive to the basket.

i have him on my fantasy team and he has been getting about 3 blocks a game. Plus he scores. The knicks are overvaluing fields by making chandler come off the bench, but his numbers could be skewed by playing second units. That's the problem of seeing only the stat line rather than the game.

 

Au contraire. Mister OP. I think it can. I think it can be continued to be ignored for much much longer. This is the Rockets organization and fanbase we are talking about. How can you say we are done ignoring things here? Have you been a fan of the Rockets lately and their organization? I think we have a very long history of looking the other way. You underestimate us OP. We have just begun the Battier sucks threads. it hasnt even been beaten to death yet like the Tmac injury and Yao foot injury threads yet. We still have years to go before this becomes pandemic enough for the Rockets organization to take notice. Trust me on this one.

The thing about Battier's defense is that you shouldn't look only at Kobe's or Carmelo's stat line. The reason why sports writers highly praise Battier is that he can guard Kobe and Carmelo by HIMSELF. That might not mean much to some people but that translates to less double teams. Most other teams have to double team Kobe when he gets the ball and that will leave Artest or Fisher or etc open.

With Battier guarding their best perimeter player, they might score in the 20's but they'll definitely need another player scoring to win. (i.e. the lakers game - Brown and Blake had to get hot at the end or Rockets would've won)

I want to know, if you lined up the top 8 teams in the league, would shane start and how minutes would he get? Thats your answer about shane right there.
