As long as we're playing (knee-jerk) hypotheticals here, how about this one: What if Steve Blake missed that shot with 18.8 seconds left in LA? Even if the Rox dropped their next two in the exact same fashion - Monta Ellis running wild on us, losing the home opener to Denver by 13 - how much of a night-and-day difference would there be on this board? "But you can't dwell on hypotheticals and puerile what-if scenarios. You have to deal with the present reality." True dat. All I'm saying is that if Blake misses that one shot, we'd still be feeling pretty good about ourselves at 1-2. "We beat the champs on their home court, slipped up a bit in the next two contests, but I like our chances." You know what? I still like our chances. We haven't been blown out of the water in any of our games. I'll panic if we get to 0-8, or if we're below .500 around Super Bowl time. Remember, we were below .500 till January 8th in 2008, then wound up winning 55 games that season and narrowly missed a #1 seeding. A team with a fair number of new faces (Lee, Martin, Miller, Dampier, 65% Yao) like ours will take time to jell. Maybe we'll never jell, maybe we'll lose 50, maybe maybe maybe... this isn't the time for that. It's too early. At 0-3, this season is wide open (insert joke here about your favorite RPD's legs being the same).
What stings is the 0, so yea 1-2 would have made a difference around here. Also, unexpected 3-0 start by NO and maybe even portland also hurt, but Utah's 0-3 start will help
This reminds me of Dallas Cowboys of this year. They had lofty expectations before the season. After a 1-3 start, they kept saying that all the losses were close games, we can definitely turn the season around, blah blah blah. Guess what, they are 1-6 now.
Actually, Utah's 1-2. The only other 0-3 team in the West is the Clippers. "Oh my God, we're the Clippers!" Knee-jerk.
yeah i just checked the standings...i was pretty sure someone said they were 3-0 in another thread...i guess it just hurts a little more then
GS is currently being raped by LAL. It scares me when we think about how lack of structure from the players to coaches of the Rockets.
You can't play their game. If you play big, you will beat them. The Rockets played right into their trap.
it's not lack of structure, it's lack of talent, the lakers out talent teams during the regular season, so do most contenders.
Hey guys, Why did the Rockets loose that game last night. I was so disgusted I couldn't properly analyze what happened. Is this Yao Ming time limit thing really getting to them or is it something else.
Um, whoa. Where do I begin? Where do any of us begin? There are at least 10 threads dealing with this already. Pick your theory of the hour for "why did the Rockets loose [sic] that game last night"?
unfortunately, there is no ifs...the fact is we are 0:3..and has the worst standings in the NBA so far.. it is too early to judge though, let's see how the team goes in the next 10 games. if we could somehow turn it into 6:4 or 7:3(unlikely), everyone would be happy then.
have a little faith...i say 2:3.. if we are 0:5,,,i would have no idea how this forum would have been by then..
I predict that the Rocket will win the next 10 games in a row then you guys will calm down save this post and quote me. 10 in a row
If Robert Horry misses that shot... Then JVG would most likely still be coach. RA would be set for life in Sacramento and Shaq would still be a Laker...
If Stockton does not make that shot, then Rockets get to the NBA Finals. Beat the Bulls in 6 for NBA title in 97. Jordan retires. Phil Jackson retires. Average basketball fan realizes how amazing Drexler and Hakeem really were. Crack is put in the "Jordan is the greatest ever" mantra. Barkley gets his ring (...end of the world?)
The next 10 games?!!! Come on. Please support your predictions with explanations as to why that should happen.
