Can you show us what is the +/- for points scored and allowed, in comparison to TO rate? It can help determine if Yao is hurting or helping the team.
too many turnovers are an indication of fatigue. that's what happens when go up against teams that are physically bigger, stronger and more athletic. rockets are full of players who are too short, too skinny and/or too slow. little guys are just going to get really winded and worn down by the second half by the guys who are much bigger, stronger and/or taller. and when you are exhausted you tend to lose control of the ball and make turnovers. simple as that. the problem is made even worse by a stubborn coach who has a habit of running his starters into the ground, who often fails to make adjustments in a timely manner.
true. my mistake. but the trend i'm point out, that is more disconcerting, is the increase in turnovers with yao off the court.
Just a note, before somebody jumps to blame Aaron Brooks (as always), he has 7 assists to 2.7 turnovers per game so far.
Kevin Martin deserves more blame...for getting so much of his offense on no dribbles or one dribble he's turning it over like he was the PG. Martin did have one season of 2.9 a few years ago, but he's usually not over 2 a game, yet in his time in houston he's been closer to 2 and half a game...i guess he was right in need more time to mesh with the starters.
I haven't read this whole thread yet, but my answer to the OP is... familiarity. The team hasn't played enough together with a full roster to know one another yet. The turnovers will go down with concrete roles and familiarity.
Actually is our 3 point defense. Our interior defense have bee good low 2point FG% at least the 2 games that Yao play but the 3 pointers have been devastating. Every time a guard penetrate the perimeter defense somebody have to come and help and that have give wide open 3.
