And I don't see the Rockets resigning him next year, why would we limit his minutes? This is all or nothing. We are 0-3, because this lineup does not have consistency. I believe part of the reason why we were so good last year, was because we had a consistent lineup and strong bonds between the different sets of lineups that were out there... Adelman loves subbing in players depending on the situation, but that in turn sacrifices efficiency and chemistry. Instead of a solid gameplan, we are forced to change the gameplan too frequently. This team can never GEL because we're constantly changing from fast-paced speedy offense (with the absence of Yao) and then having to adjust the game to suit Yao when he returns. Not, unpredictability is sometimes a good thing (in allusion to the Texans' Slaton and Foster in their rookie years), but in this case it's hurting our team more than helping... I'm not blaming this on Yao, it's not really his fault. He has hard work ethic and generally loves the game of basketball, but his body was not built for this sport. Resigning him is completely out of the question in my opinion, especially for the money he is probably going to ask for, or other teams try to bid for him. In my opinion, this team thrives off that Warriors' mentality. SCORE MORE THAN YOUR OPPONENT. It worked last year to some extent... It seems like we've tooled for an even faster offense AND managed to improve our half-court offense tremendously... However, having Yao in the lineup changes that altogether. Yao can't pass.
I also have a feeling this is the last year for Yao to be a rocket. But it'll be because Yao doesn't want to resign here. We'll see.
Rockets are dumb. I hope 2 things happen 1. Trade Yao for players that fit the system. 2. Resign him and fit the team around him (but we know his injuries) I doubt, Team Yao, will accept anything less than Max. If he played 32 minutes Yao would be back to his 20/10 or close to it minus his postive impact on defense. Rockets need to cut ties. Love the player but because of his injuries, Rockets cannot build a half court Roster to fit his style of play.
Ball stopper?? -Who doesn't get the same touches as his past? -Who shoots a high FG% Okay.......I guess a scoring PG, who gets to dribble and make dumb plays....isn't a ball stopper?
I said something along these lines in another thread (albeit I said it in a more positive tone than you did). Letting go of Yao would be insane.
I agree with you. The Rockets organization has been dumb in how they handled Yao Ming. They dumbly hired a coach who has no clue what to do with a half court player like Yao Ming. Though I know it won't happen, I'd love for Yao Ming to go to an organization like Chicago with Tom Thibodeau who would know how to utilize a player like Yao. Or possibly to a team like Orlando to form a new Twin Towers with Dwight Howard. I don't think Yao is ever going to get a MAX contract again. 4-5 years for 50 Million.
Agreed. He puts this team on the map in a lot of regards. I think too many people here are oversimplifying the issues at hand. The fault doesn't fall on just one player, or a couple of players, we have no identity as a unit. The biggest problem is that other than Scola, it seems like no one wants the ball when we're on offense in the second half. I don't get it. In the last three games we would rather make bad passes and turn the ball over instead of taking a dumb shot. Everyone (except Scola) seems guilty of this.
Scola is unique, he has the ability to play well in almost any role, while other players have issues with a consistently shifting role. That is one of the biggest issues on the team right now, no one knows their roles...they are not clearly defined, and that is a major coaching faux pas. DD
if yao goes to chicago next year they will win an NBA chmpionship before any of these current rockets. it would be similar to what Pau had happen to him. max his strengths with true talent around him. not just a pack of effort players. rockets just don't have it to be nba champs. major overhaul needed including coaching staff and others. we are good but not elite and won't be any time soon. that's just how it is. and it's not just yao fitting in here. it's just the whole organization. almost.....but not enough. I'm really frustrated
and scola needs to jump ship before he gets too old here. he could win somewhere right now. but not here
Yao will retire a Rocket. yao is the only person that makes this team relevent! he will not be traded, or noting of the sort, yao ming IS the rockets . theres to much money involved for this organization to just let this man be traded or to let him walk in free agency!.......... im a rookie to this website yet i know enough that this team is work in progress. you guys let the rockets marketing get to YOUR HEADS!! DONT PANIC ...WE WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. I RATHER THIS HAPPEN EARLY ON IN THE SEASON THAN LATE!!
Can't believe there are bunch of r****ds in here. Did people even look at PA(points against) the Rockets are giving up? It's 117 PA and dead last in the NBA in the last 3 games. Oh yeah, it's Yao fault.
Duh, don't you know? Yao is paying Rocket players to play no defense. He's loaded rich. You should know that...
I cant wait til Yao gets healthy and dominant again and everyone is posting how great he is. The problem with the team is they are arrogant because they are really good and know it. They just dont feel like playing defense. It has nothing to do with Yao. He will be dominating in the playoffs and the fans will be cheering instead of bashing.
