Definitely realize this is early and yes we're all very disappointed in a 0-3 start. Plenty of time to right the ship, however if we don't right the ship and this continues what does Morey do? There has been a lot of conversation around players being moved for that superstar player who can team up with Yao (Yao only plays 24 minutes and doesn't play back to back games, so that previous statement doesn't quite make sense).
Brooks is getting shipped out. Bank on it. This back court has to be broken up and I think it's clear that Martin is a better player, a better fit and the guy Morey has been after for several years.
Oh good lord.... The guy has struggled some, but there is no one else that could start at PG on the roster. Unless you want Kyle 0-7 Lowry with 3 assists and 3 turnovers to start. The entire team is struggling, and people are looking for a scapegoat..... It is not one player it is the lack of team identity. DD
This is a test for Morey, he has been great at trades and acquiring assets, but does he have the leadership qualities to force the coach out of his comfort zone for the good of the team? DD
Revisit the Sixers trade? Their two C's Hawes and Speights are struggling. If Doug Collins has enough faith in Holiday could Turner be made available so soon?
If this doesn't get better why do anything? Some times your team just needs a reset IMO. Take your losses and prepare for the draft, maybe one or two changes though. I suspect Yao won't be coming back and Battier and all those old guys. If this keeps up we'll have a top 5 draft pick so there ya go. Only if this doesn't get better...since we're 0-3 but I doubt it's that bad.
I think this is "What will Adelman do" time. "What will Morey do" only happens if this doesn't turn around for, say, another month or so. Hopefully we don't get there.
Neither one of them are that good at one on one defense....they are about equal. The problem is that Adelbrain keeps putting Shane on people like Ellis....who he has no hope of guarding. DD
Thanks for the insights, I think Morey will wait until the February time line and give Rick a chance to coach these guys. In February, it's wide open with Yao maybe Martin and Scola being the only untouchables. Can't ever see Lowry being our starting PG, he's Rondo without being to play his level of defense and finish around the rim. So I'm not sure Morey is that ready to trade AB unless a top 5 point guard is available.
We have too many likable players that the coach is loyal to (Battier, Chuck). Those players were borderline NBA talent and now not even that. However, RA continues playing them even though the team struggles. It is time to find out if the young talent Morey has got is real or not?
