it's obvious we have talent, we have the deepest team in the league, yet we are gonna completely suck this year unless the following things happen.

    1) Start Jordan Hill with Yao Ming. You cannot pair Yao with Scola, or you will get killed on the boards and on defense. We've seen scola shine if you actually post him on the block, sure he can shoot a mid range jumper but he excels as a low post option. He needs to go to the second unit and be the primary offensive option on there.

Yao at this point is a defensive liability if you make him move too much and rotate in and out of the paint. You basically have to pair him up with a very quick help side defender and essentially making his role a big rebounder/box out/space filler. He can't really worry about rotations and also worry about rebounding position, he is not quick enough to do so right now.

I would only play him 20 minutes a night, and give him 2 10 minute stints per half, that way, he gets continuity instead of this 4 6 minutes crap.

Scola even though he is coming off the bench, will actually play 30+ minutes in a manu ginoblii role.

    2) Play Brooks with Brad miller and make him an off the bench gunner in the mold of a poor man's jason terry, ride him when his shot is hot but he should not be running the team offense, he should be playing off miller in a SG role.

    3) Brad Miller is even worse defender and rebounder than Yao Ming at this stage, he should only be used in spot/offensive minutes, he should not have a regular place in the rotation, instead use Jefferies with Scola.

    Rotation becomes

    Yao
    Hill
    Battier
    Martin
    Lowry

    Jefferies
    Scola
    Budinger
    Lee
    Brooks

    Spot minutes
    Hayes
    Miller

No need to rotate anything. Just let Yao be Yao and let him play regular minutes and we're set to go.

Something like that has to happen. I like this starting rotation.

    Yao
    scola
    Budinger
    Martin
    Lowry

    subs
    Hill
    Jeffries
    Courtney Lee
    Brooks
    Dampier

    Spot minutes?
    Battier
    Chuck Hayes
    Miller

Why spot minutes at SF you say for Battier? Well Jeffries adds size at SF and can rebound. He is obviously still useful on defense. You can insert him into taller lineup and create mismatches.

I'd put Yao in the bench.

    Starting lineup:

    Hill
    Scola
    Budinger
    Martin
    Brooks

    ----------
    bench:

    Yao
    Lowry
    Battier
    Lee
    Miller
    --------

tank this season. Rockets need rebuilding.

If Yao is going to be limited to 24 minutes, those 24 minutes should all be after the Rockets are in the bonus and can take maximum advantage of Yao's skillset in the bonus. He's the best free throw shooting big man in the NBA. He also collects fouls at an unbelievable rate. When you are in the bonus, the defense has a choice, give up the easy dunk/layup or take another foul and put him on the line. Miller and Lowry should start. Lowry, Martin, and Scola should get us in the bonus. Then you come in with Yao and Brooks after we are in the bonus, go to Yao down low and force the double that allows the kickout to Brooks for the high percentage 3 ball.

A rotation change WOULD be a good idea... IF we actually had a rotation to start with.

    Yao
    Scola
    Shane
    Martin
    Brooks

    Bench
    ------
    Hill
    Patterson
    Bud
    Lee
    Kyle

Brad and chuck should not see the floor. Brad is to old and chuck does not see the floor on any good team in the NBA.

We may arguable have the deepest team in the league (many will argue that isn't important in the NBA), but what I do know is that this team has many flaws. Flaws from top to bottom, and many in between.

I agree AB should be coming off the bench.

He should accept the jason terry role

We can start by getting rid of our leader Battier. He single-handedly renaming us to choke city

I thought it was gutsy when Adelman had Yao on the bench at the start of the second half, which makes total sense. Playing 24 minutes a game, is not considered starter-worthy therefore he should play off the bench.

I also like the idea of having Hill start at center and develop him there.
    I think a starting 5 of
    J. Hill
    Scola
    Battier
    K. Martin
    A. Brooks
can do a lot of damage. Then the bench would be
    Yao
    C. Hayes
    Budinger
    Lee
    Lowry
That balances things off. Miller, Jeffries and C. Hayes would be used/rotated depending on matchups.

it's now obvious, scola or Yao needs to come off the bench, cannot play both together.

Bench Yao since hhe is a joke on defense
    Start Budinger at the SF
Start Lowry so Brooks gets the message
And run for godsake,. We look at our best when we play uptempo trap and press defense and push the ball on offense.

Houston is one of the best team preventing point in the paint.

What Yao defense have to do with letting team kill us from wide open 3s. or PF killing us from the perimeter.

Should we bench Scola too? He is man are destroying us.

Just don't play him at the end of game or take the dam 24 min cap off so we can play him wherever RA want.

Yao Scola (53 win) second round playoff with Yao getting hurt in game 3.

They sure can't play together.

Scolas offense and IQ is what has kep this team in all the first 3 games. Put Hill next to him and his defense wont be as exposed.Yao cant guard a snail anymore so nowonder Luis is getting exposed because the guy next to him is not all that great.
