that exerpt is full of brilliance but I have a couple of criticisms. first of all its nothing new that Americans revert to ignorance in times like this, its not because we are ignorant its because these issues are complicated. Matt Taibbi is reporter who's job it is to know what a credit default swap is, if he is going to address that subject.

I personally know what a credit default swap is and what the purpose is because i have been working in a world where they are actually used for the purpose they were intended for. if I did not work in that world, I have no problem admitting I probably wouldn't know what the hell it was. therefore I do not criticize the average american who does not work in that world for not knowing what it is or why it exists.

secondly, and this goes to the first point, its cool for us who consider ourselves somewhat smart to make fun of ignorant tea partiers and their candidates like bachman. however, keith obermann had a guest on his show his week that made a great point, I think he is the "what's wrong with kansas" author that pretty much address middleclass and lower middleclass americans voting against their interest.

His point, when you make fun of bachmann, or palin, you feed right into the stereotype of the elitist. and it doesn't help your cause. if taibbi wants to really reach out to middleclass americans, he would be wise to learn an old adage.

you catch more flies with honey than with crap.

the guy shouldn't come off as such a know it all jerk, and this is coming from someone who loves his journalism. at this point he's only preaching to the choir

Truly remarkable your hate for this country and you show your true colors as a fascist progressive.....What majority status? What demographic? Do you have a marketing project due? Last I checked we are all americans.....It's obvious you champion a multicultural society where everybody gets along, news for you buddy, your multicultural crap alienates and radicalizes people, rather than contributing to a strong american foundation, you like to see a segment of our society's "last, dying scream". You champion division rather than unity.

Thank you for pulling back and sparing the poor folk. With great knowledge and power comes great responsibility. I'm sure your onslaught of political ideas would have been too much to handle, kudos.

Typical liberal cesspool of **** that this asshat has convinced himself of is true. People outside of LA and NY are obviously inept. They can't understand anything past basic arithmetic, and if people could just understand complex finance, then the world could move on, finally!........Complex finance dealings....man thats just too much...let me take a stab at it....investors that have money tend to invest in businesses b/c those businesses need it to continue operations and become profitable...the complexities behind this are for the pros, yes i agree......but the basic idea is.....businesses have to make ****......in order to make that **** you need money.....you get the money from investors.......the investors expect to make a profit on that money they gave the business......pretty straight forward and simple.

Actually, I believe White birthrates are beginning to pick up, and will probably pick up even more if people like you keep openly gloating over demographic shifts.

What a piece of s**t conclusion- yes, obviously multiculturalism alienates people- you don't know what the f**k you are talking about- really. Why all the posts today? Rally to Restore Sanity got you a'feared??? Sure sounds like it with all the "Obama pals around with terrorists" nonsense. Thankfully, you are in a small, small minority of individuals with whom rational people can't have a reasonable discussion with- you want to talk about health care, dislike about the bailout? Fine- we can agree to disagree. You want to talk about Obama's Muslim background? Take f**kin hike.

The basic tenets of the Tea Party are understandable and do make good sense- but you've got dingbats like Palin and Bachmann who are mucking things up. I may not agree with everything Obama does, but good God, at least he makes some damn sense. Have you even listened to that knucklehead Palin? The Pubs need to get people like Boehner, Pence, etc. controlling the dialogue- the Pubs are probably going to gain a majority in the House in SPITE OF some of these weirdos (Angle, etc.), and it's a shame that the individuals getting all the press are the conspiracrazies.

What the hell is your problem ice pick...why all the posts today...b/c i ****ing feel like it mother****er thats why....if i was in Saudi Arabia, I probably would be in handcuffs, but thank god, im in the United States of America...and rest assured im not worried about whatever stupid ****ing liberal rally you got going on........i got the rest of america which is the majority which is sick of this dumb ****......so your ridiculous notion of me being in a small minority is a unicorn dream with rainbows..

I don't think he meant white people. More like the crazy people that are apart of the Tea Party "movement".

His quote from the Dem staffer, "We get a lot of yokels in here, small-town lawyers who’ve never been east of Indiana..." plays so perfectly into the Northeast liberal elite stereotype. Of course that same Dem staffer has most likely never left his little cocoon either, and has no clue as to the hardships, concerns, wants & needs of those same "yokels". The disconnect on both sides is truly sad.
