Papa Johns! I just finished a large thin crust Canadian Bacon, Bell Pepper and pineapple...minus two slices. Oh, and two cokes...ugh.
I usually don't care what place...but I eat pepporoni, both thick and thin. (been in a thick mood lately.) I will say I don't eat much Papa Johns because we ate pizza from them once and it was terrible. But it was probably just the place and not the food chain itself. I usually get Pizza Hut pizzas.
I'm weird. I like crushed pepper seeds and cheese pizza. It's all about the crust to me. Thin, crispy fresh crust. Kenneally's Cheese Pizza. For fixin's that Alfonso's Flying Pizza super duper whatever is pretty good.
mmmm sounds yummy HeyP, might have to try that but for me my current winner is the pepperoni pizza for Papa Mia's on Semaphore Rd, just 100metres from my place, second would be the seafood pizza from Ethelton Takeaway, and third would be some of the funky pizza's at the Gov like the Beef Korma pizza and the dessert pizzas
I'm sure there's better out there for special occasions, but Papa John's is easily my favorite for "everyday" pizza. (Only a slight exaggeration.) I like mr_oily's choice (not a lot of meat, no olives) but since I'm a cheapskate, I'll get a large pineapple carryout. I've gotta get it without the nastybombs, though. Nastybombs are those pale green, slimy things that make the whole box smell bad. They make your fingers smell bad if you have to pick them up. And, if they actually come into contact with the pizza -- eiuuuchh! (I'm too lazy to find an appropriate emoticon.) For some reason, though, the Papa John's people call them "pepperoncinis," which doesn't come close to conveying the taste. Of course, your mileage may vary.
I really miss the Chicago style Starburst pizza at Star Pizza on wheat crust. There should be a national holiday for this pizza.
Kimble, You don't eat much salad do you?? Pepperoncinis are referred to as "salad peppers" by vegetarians...not "nastybombs." hehe. No wonder you are doing Post #7 in a Pizza Thread!! I'm not making fun of you as much as salad eaters. Cheers!! btw: I looove those pepperoncini's ... pass them my way ... but then again, like I said,,,I'm weird. Give me heat!!
I find the best takeout pizza always comes from the little neighbourhood pizza parlours, and not the big chains. Big chains like Pizza Hut & Dominoes produce a product that is almost always too greasy. Plus, one of my sister's friends works at Pizza Hut, and the staff is constantly picking off toppings with their grimy fingers and eating them. The small, local shops are generally cleaner, more reliable, and produce a better pie. Having said that, my favorite toppings are pretty standard: cheese pepperoni onions pineapple mushrooms green peppers
in chicago, giordonos or somethin like that has the greatest kick ass chicago style stuffed pizza around. mmmmm
Man, good thread here.... I love pizza more than anything and although I like Papa John's and a place called CiCi's (they had all kinds of toppings including barbecue and jalepeno pepper plus they were cheap), I will have to go with: Pizza Hut Meat Lover's Thin and Crispy or the Meat Lover's Stuffed Crust Pizza. I had last night this new type called the "Chicago Deep Dish Pizza". It was okay, but nothing I would get over and over again. It had a lot of mozzarella cheese and the sauce on top of the cheese. It was weird and hard to describe...you almost have to order one yourself to get at what I am talking about.
Had Pizza Hut thin crust earlier tonight. In Austin they have a deal for $5.99 for a large 1-topping pizza, or $7.99 unlimited toppings. Really you can't go wrong with any of the big 3: Dominos, Pizza Hut, or Papa Johns. If you're into specialty pizzas then you should try Frank and Angie's or Brick Oven.
Louies(neighborhood joint)....wheat crust.....extra cheese...black olives.....green olives....onions....pepperoni.
I agree, that's the thing I miss most about not being in Chicago. I love the deep dish Chicago style pizza! Stuffed with cheese or even spinach, it's something I can't resist. Why can't this style pick up in Houston? What's so great about thin crust? Most of the time it's about the same price, but with deep dish you really get the best value, and IHMO, the best all around taste. B
as before mentioned star pizza is really good. you must try their rosemary chicken on chicago style crust.
