Taylor and Hill wouldn't get us Budinger. If you can't get a player as good as Budinger than it is a downgrade.

Hill, Taylor AND a #1 might, plus both those guys aren't playing and it has become painfully obvious they won't so anything that could be added defensively would be an upgrade.

Saying that, I REALLY REALLY don't want to move Hill unless it's for an upgrade at either SF or PG.

No way Morey could get something like that done this fast. Trades like that don't happen this time of year. Morey even said as much on the radio yesterday.

More likely, Morey would frantically (or not-so-frantically, given how well this front office plans in advance) look for another team with the desire to get a guy like Taylor or Smith on the cheap.

Even if the Rockets threw in $500k cash with Taylor, they could end up saving anywhere from $300k to $3M in salary, tax and revenue sharing if they make that deal.

Yeah, I think that had to do with his saying that he was the second best center in the L.

In any case, I think we're going to have to retire the "Ericka" nickname if he comes.

We really could've used Dampier in the first two games. I'd like to see him knock a guard or two to the floor every time he plays with a hip check or some elbows. He'd be the enforcer that we've needed for a while. It only displaces Miller a little bit since we have all those back-to-backs. If we go up against a big lineup like the Lakers with Bynum back, it'll be pretty nice to have 3 7-footers to throw at them. Miller could then slide over to the 4 spot and play from the high post.

Ultimately, I see this as a way to save Yao for the post-season. Like someone said yesterday, Yao is the only 2 way player we have (maybe Lee and Lowry too). Dampier and Miller's minutes will go down in the playoffs when we need Yao to play 32mpg.

I don't remember the guy to EVER have broken any news. I remember him having made up a bunch of crap to attract attention. There is no reason to assume Dampier is coming to the Rockets until Clutch or Feigen or the team itself say so.

probably will have to cut either Taylor or Smith if this is true

if money plays an issue they'll cut Smith

if money isnt an issue then they should cut Taylor

    Then the IR would be:

Patterson, Smith/Taylor (whichever isnt cut), Jeffries

jeffries will probably get activated on the games Yao doesnt play

and hopefully they keep Smith (even if it means giving up on Taylor) since we need a backup PG more than anything else in case Lowry has to miss anymore time with his spasms

i dont get why people want to cut chuck, he is our best low post defender and he can even finish layups now.

chuck has dramatically improved his offensive game, and his defense is as good as ever. we let chuck go we're going to be giving up even more points. chuck is the perfect guy for the playoffs when we will face pfs like gasol, or even guys like dirk who get shut down by the chuck wagon

TBH, when has the Chron actually broken any news?

They are always seem to be the last to know about anything.

As much as I didn't care about this move in the pre-season...

He could be a huge help after watching the first two games.

Chuck is a great one-on-one defensive player, even against much taller guys in the post or quick guys on the perimeter. He's also good in help defense if he can get to the spot before the person makes his strides to the rim. The problem is the help defense at the rim. To put it bluntly he is worthless in that aspect of the game.

In today's NBA that sort of help defense is absolutely necessary. You can no longer count on perimeter defenders to "stop" the guards of the league, they have become too fast and there are too many of them. You can only hope to prevent them from getting easy layups or dunks after they get by their man, or my personal favorite, making them think twice before even attempting a finish.

After two losses, I see the rockets really want Dampier on the team, Dampier is a good rebounder, and big, should help on the defensive end. I am guessing that Taylor is a goner.
