Founders grandson and head of his foundation is auctioning off the first written rules of hoops, sort of the original constitution of basketball, he comments on the state of basketball right now :

"I'm very proud of the game, proud that it's the fastest-growing game," Ian Naismith said. "I'm upset about a lot of things taking place in the game, but I don't want to say anything negative. Well, one thing. The LeBron James spectacle, his reality show when he was signing up with a team, I thought that was in poor taste. That's not basketball, as far as I'm concerned.

"It's a different world," he said. "I live in that world, but sometimes I don't understand it."

The founder of hoops can't voice his opinion because he's been DEAD for over half a century.

Irrelevant descendant of peachbasket-ball inventor does not approve of LeBron's business/marketing decisions.

    Who cares?

He didn't ask anyone to care.

    He's entitled to his opinion.

ESPN and the OP are the ones to blame.

Personally, I do. In fact I love every nail that is being driven into Lebron's coffin. It was abhorring what he and Bosh did this past summer, so if the descendant of this fine sports wants to say something about LeBron, I'm listening.

Thank you. He didn't hold a press conference, folks. A reporter asked him for his thoughts at the sale of some old crap. And dude nails it with this: "it's a different world." Hell, that's the way I feel.

I agree with you regarding LerBon, but I don't really hold anything against Bosh. He already made it clear he would leave. It's unfortunate he didn't fall into our laps, but he didn't hold any sort of "decisions." although that's probably because nobody would care to tune in.

I met Ian Naismith a few years ago. He has a travelling basketball museum with some pretty cool memorabilia, and he'll show up at basketball games that he's invited to and share basketball history, promote the game globally, and promote his foundation. He brought his museum to a Lamar Women's game (their coach and now athletic director, Larry Tidwell, is another guy who does a ton to promote the game globally). He's a kind of geeky guy, but he's a wealth of basketball knowledge, and he's done a lot for the game around the world.

LOL. He should have done a 1-hour show with ESPN telling basketball fans his opinion of LeBron's decision.

The thread title is wrong considering his thread.

Should we also find out what his grand daughter thinks about LeBron?

The grandpa didn't even invent basketball.

It's like the Brits taking credit for inventing football.
