Don't you hate it when you know of a great song like this and then 10 years later is it used in an ad and then it becomes popular? And then everyone you talk to will ask you if you heard this song?

I have to say to them, "I knew of this song way before it got famous"

Vince Carter is the greatest dunker, in game, or otherwise......and its not even a discussion. I've seen him do dunks in warmup that other players couldn't possibly even attempt without looking silly....what was freaky is that he made it look all so easy, yet his dunks were powerful and stylish.....if he had any ounce of motivation and mental strength that MJ had, he could have been one of best players to ever play the game.

I will give you Vince as the greatest out of game dunker ever, but I am going to vote Shawn Kemp for greatest in game dunker ever.

Thanks for posting this, TheFreak. I had seen the commercial a few times on the air and I like how it pays homage. Well done.

You know I never thought about it but now that I do I have to agree. Who was better.

    Dominique... NO
Michael Jordan... He had some great ones ... some of the greatest... NO (but arguable)
    Kobe... NOOOOOOOOO
    Vince Carter... HAHAHAHA
    LEBRON... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah now that I think about it Dr J is the man! He did amazing things that weren't even thought possible before him and only people could unsuccessfully try to copy even today.

Absolutely. One big component of that truth is that many of his greatest dunks mattered.

Wince Carter... has he made a FG that mattered, in the playoffs I mean? (*snicker*)

Yeah, if you meant goat in the playoffs.

Dunking on some stiffs when your team is a billion points ahead is not comparable to dunking on Walton, Abdul-Jabbar, Cooper... in playoff intensity, in situations that matter.

dr. j is in my top 3 but that logic makes no sense.

seriously, playoff intensity as a measure of greatest in game dunker? wat. i'm not talking about better player but better dunker.

VC had it all. in his prime he was a highlight waiting to happen every night.

We can agree to disagree. I have always loved in-game dunks that have fierce defense surrounding them. That's just me -- it's impressive. Fast break, no defense or garbage time dunks might as well be like a track and field event. Again, that's just me.

I just watched the top 100 Vince ones, and the majority were with no defense around him. I don't think any were from the playoffs. But yeah, Vince was a seriously athletic and impressive dunker. It was largely in garbage time in garbage games. But that's cool, if you remove the context.

If you've played basketball, you know the degree of difficulty goes way up if people are actually trying to play defense on you, to stop you at all costs.

I just think garbage games are one step closer to dunking in practice. It may just be me. To have lived in the era of Dr. J, in incredibly intense games with the Lakers, or in his early finals against the trailblazers... and to watch him unleash one of those plays. It was special. You were seeing something fairly creative and new at that point, and at the highest level of competition possible (at that time.)

Like so many "who was the best" type topics on the BBS, you can probably split us right down the middle based on age, and that's fine.

(EDIT: in the 2nd 100 Carter dunks, there's a really nice one on Alonzo Mourning, where 'Zo is actually trying to block it. Great play. 'Zo is past his prime and it was a Vanilla dunk, but still, that's more of what I'm talking about.)

a bulk of those clips where not in garbage time. there were some dunks in the 1st and 2nd quarter.

and lets not act like dr. j didn't play in a fast paced era with more opportunities for fast breaks. :p

tho this is still one of he most beautiful dunks of all time
