Def get a boxer. Bo is awesome. He is just fun to be with but he is sometimes stubborn. Great guard dog and he is VERY confident around people and dogs. Boxers need daily exercise. There are boxer rescue groups here in Houston. They are just awesome dogs.
Yeah it's the perfect dog. Full of energy, runs pretty fast despite it's short legs, loves to play fetch, very sociable. Definitely alot more independent than our other dog when we aren't at home and will go off and does his own thing. And it'll definitely bark at anything that enters the house. Serves as a pretty good thermal blanket during the cold winter months too.
i think i may get a boxer next time i want a dog. i've always liked their look. not too big or small also. how is Bo doing now?
Don't get a giant breed and don't expect any dog to actually bite a "bad guy" should they break in. Pure breeds from the right breeder are the healthiest dogs by far but finding the right breeder.
Oh and I can probably get you a American bulldog/Dutch shepherd female that is 8 months old if you're interested.
I say you need to get an Italian Greyhound. Smaller dogs, 10-15 pounds. Perfect for apartments. They are short hair, so no big issue with shedding. They love to cuddle and get under the blankets. Overall great dogs. Someone said a Whippet. Its basically the same thing.Whippet I think is a tad bit bigger. But I can assure you, you will not find any in a place like the SPCA.
FB, You have a conflict there you need to think about. You want a high energy dog to play with and run the trails, but you aren't ever home. A high energy dog that doesn't get the interaction and attention it needs tends to get frustrated. They can bark when you are not home, annoying your neighbors and they can destroy shoes and furniture just from nervous energy (and crap and pee inside). Your companion can turn into a pest.
Wow they suggested a Jack Russel for me, I HATE Jack Russels. I specifically asked for a big dog. I love the White shepards. it is a big dog, but when walked properly they can stay in a smaller appartment, I got my Dog when i was still at the University and living in a 20 square metre appartment. But I walked enough with her that it didn't matter.
I can't tell you what kind of dog to get, but I can offer some helpful advice. You should always name your dog after yourself (maybe add a '.jr'). That way, if someone really annoying is trying to get your attention, they will get distracted by your dog. You're welcome.
That yorkie kind of looks like mine. I have to admit when I first got him I thought he was all about show and games. After about a year I have realized he's smarter than half the people who post here. I would seriously consider a yorkie.
he's doing better that's for sure. he's on his third week of raw diet. it's def a trial and error phase for us. throwing up and runny poop and etc. so far i think he is slowly adjusting. we have not introduced red meat yet because his poop is still a hit and miss but he stopped having cow turd poops, THANK GOD.
lol, I know that feeling. that's how our 2nd dog came into the family. at the end of the day, you really don't need to eat that much, so why not sacrifice all of your meals and feed a dog?
That and don't forget **** everywhere unless you'd keep him/her in a kennel. Which for a high energy dog, can be a lose-lose.
What do those look like Dave? Just curious. a 3rd dog would be a very very big surprise to my mom, lol.
