I'm looking for quality chat room software to put on a web page. Anybody have any experience with different products? Or would an IRC based ap be better? Thanks in advance.
I don't have a ton of experience with it, but you can use mibbit. It generates the code for your page. The only downside is that it uses it's own IRC server (that I can see), and the commands are a little different than most IRC. Also, I did have a few random folks pop in to the chat room I ran, even though it was password protected. It's possible that an IRC guru like R2K knows a better way.
Hey Xero. It's askari Miss those old OE days. Stuff got intense! Thanks for the info. Anybody other leads would be great.
Hey Greg- good to see you kicking around. I'm playing another browser game now. Not as nutty and cut-throat as OE, but that's good- I couldn't stand that level of play for long.
the web-based chat room we use here is free, all you have to do is copy the code to your website. It connects to the webchat IRC network
No. There used to be a core group of five or six or ten in there. Not anymore. Hence, no one going in there these days.
