After the first 2 losses, Adelman is really becoming increasingly frustrating to me as a fan. You have the depth, now develop your depth early on in the season rather than later. It's common sense.
We're at game 2. Hill will get plenty of opportunities to prove himself and make himself a full rotation player. Trust has to be earned, not granted.
Exactly. From what Rick has said in practice, he's simply not there yet. He doesn't concentrate and focus all the time, and he makes mental mistakes. There's a reason he finds himself on the bench. Again. I hope he "gets it." Soon.
This is what I have an issue with. What has Jeffries "earned" that Hill hasn't above and beyond? Hill was a breath of fresh air in preseason games which IMO should be the most important barometer in gauging his readiness for playing in the regular rotation.
ok. but who looked better to you as a fan? (not that it matters)......but just curious. Hill might not be the sharpest tool, but he's not the dullest either. I like him because he can play within the system (as evident in preseason) and grab rebounds and block shots as well. Those are pretty important.
I don't see anything wrong with not playing Jordan Hill. The coaching staff obviously sees something that us fans don't see that prevents him from getting playing time. Maybe hes a bonehead and can't get things to work. Like poeple said before, if he can "get it" then he would probably be playing.
They should have played Hill. This is a rebuilding year. You have to play young players to get their value out.
Hill probably deserved some time, but we didn't lose because of the frontcourt last night. I hate to pin it on one player, but we lost because AB couldn't contain anyone on defense, and in the 2nd half his shot selection absolutely killed our offense. We desperately need Lowry for his perimeter defense (nothing like using a little muscle to play D on a guy as hot as Ellis was) and his distributing. AB destroyed us for stretches on both ends of the floor last night.
This. Both Chuck and Jared played fairly well last night. I think David Lee could have had an even bigger night if not for those two guys. Dude, you DO know the guy who led the league in charges drawn last season, don't you? His name is Jared Jeffries.
Educated opinion. Its easy to see Adelman's demeanor when he talks about Jordan in interviews, and when he continuously talks about his lack of concentration in games. Thats a red flag there that Hill just cant get Adelman's system and Rick is wanting him to do something that is not playing to his strength. He is good in pick and roll situations with Brooks, but when he's looking to pass the ball to cutters he really struggles. On defense, I think his biggest weakness is lower body strength and keeping his position in the paint.
that pretty much sums it up right there. So sounds like the coach is the issue here...not so much Hill. Hill could still be serviced in the rotation and be effective, it's just that Adelman is too stubborn and adamant in getting Jordan committing to RICK's WAY...correct?
Reasons you don't play: Injury - No Dog house - Possible Not good enough - Most Likely Getting ready to be traded - Possible if they are making room for Erick but I would have expected news today at the latest.
It doesn't any sense to give up on a player like Jordan Hill and getting rid of him for an old Fart (albeit is still effective) like Dampier. Even if Dampier is serviceable, the upside and youth are too great to sacrifice.
Do people even watch the games before they start to complain? It's not like the Warriors were just attacking the rim and the Rockets couldn't stop it. No, they were hitting jump shots and three pointers. How in the heck would having Hill out there stop Monta Ellis and Steph Curry from going ape crazy.
It wouldn't. Defensively, the advantage Hill provides over Jeffries/Chuck, if anything, would be rebounding. He's not really a rim protector or good post defender. Maybe he becomes that in time, but he's certainly not there yet.
