What do you guys think about the new fingerprint scanning system instead of traditional membership cards? I don't feel comfortable allowing 24hr fitness to document and save my fingerprints. I understand they are doing this to prevent multiple people from using the same membership card. I don't think this is the way to do it.
Am always losing my membership card or leaving them in my shorts when I wash them, so I was pretty happy about it.
What makes you so uncomfortable about the gym having your fingerprints? I don't know why they didn't think of this before.
i was really happy to see this. now i don't need to bring anything with me except my towel and water.
odd, they haven't started using this at the my 24hr in Pearland, then again, I havent been since last week
that's crazy, but I can see why a couple of years ago, I lost my card , and later found out someone had been using it for months. Normally, they ask you for ID so I don't know how someone could've been using it. I guess front desk people who didn't do their job properly.
First they want me to give up my fingerprint to enter the gym. Next thing I know I'll have to get an tattoo of a dumbbell on my forehead to identify I'm a gym member. When will this nonsense stop.
fingerprint is much safer than having a card that you could lose. you can't lose your fingerprint, and no one can copy it. Don't be afraid of changes ya geezers.
I entered my fingerprints into their system 2 weeks ago. Personally, I have no problem and kind of prefer it - so I don't have to carry and remember my ID card every time I go to the gym (I don't carry my wallet to the gym - just my keys. I don't like my pockets weighed down with stuff while I'm there). But I did notice that a group of hispanic people who spoke poor English were fighting with the employee who checks you in at the front when I got there last weekend. They were NOT down with having their fingerprints in 24's system. They kept yelling in Spanish and finally left. I assumed they were illegal immigrants who were fearful of being caught. So I can see people in that situation having a big problem with it. As for me - I really don't care. I was a bit startled by it when I first heard they wanted our fingerprints - but after a few moments I decided I just didn't care enough to make a fuss about it.
Horrible system, if they are trying to prevent other people from using your membership card. I tried to sign up for it, a few days ago. It turns out that somebody had already signed up for cardless entry for my membership ID with a different phone number and fingerprint. Then, the told me to come back between 8 and 5, because only a manager can fix the problem. They have not been able to explain the security breach. Some hoodrat could have been checking in me for the last week, without any picture ID.
I think its Google and Facebook you should be worried about. They have more information about you than you can possibly imagine.
Don't mind it, just one less thing I have to carry with me to the gym. With that said, some of you guys are way too nervous about 24 hour having your fingerprints.
Pshht...You probably carry caaa-sh and listen to your cee-dees like grampa does. Oh, grampa, you silly man.
You should be more nervous about having to touch your finger to something that everybody else who enters that facility also touches.
