This was such an underrated and solid pickup for the Rockets. He really does flow in the Adelman offense perfectly. He opens up new passing lanes and really rewards our wing players that love to cut to the basket like Martin, Brooks, Budinger and Lee.

I remember I used to cringe whenever Yao had to go to the bench (or go home for the season) because we'd end up with an undersized center or one that produced zero offense and couldn't move around at all. Now, I think the Rockets and Coach Adelman can feel really comfortable giving Brad Miller those 25 minutes a game that he will consistently receive now that Yao is playing with a 24 minute cap. Extremely impressed by his play against a very big Lakers frontline. A little bit overpaid, but in my mind, totally worth it when you look at the severe lack of a legitimate backup center for many years now.

Yeah he made some nice passes in the paint and moves great without the ball. Even though it was his first regular season game with this team, he knew exactly what he was doing, did not look lost. Between Yao, Scola and Miller we had 36 rebounds! This is just the first game.

I love him already. He understands the offense so he can teach the other guys how to run it better.

He's also rebounding well and giving up his body.

Brad Miller is a human back in his natural habitat.

    He will produce nicely.

A couple of those turnovers were on him but that will be remedied by familiarity with the incumbent players, which will come. Solid, solid pickup.

Yao Ming tried to imitate Brad a few times tonight and resulted in turnovers. His passes are too obvious and inaccurate.

Very underrated. Probably the best post passer we've had since early Yao.

Some of those turnovers killed us. And you can tell how slow he is on D against a player like Pau.

Anyone remember that play when Pau drove on him and took it to the hole. Then Rick put Chuck Hayes in, very next play the lakers tried the same play with Pau. I looked to my buddies (not Rox fans) and said "watch this, no way he can do it on Chuck Hayes" and then Pau airballed.

    It was great.

Yeah he did good last night, can't wait until everybody picks up the offense and we start playing more efficiently together.

He ran pretty quick for an old guy his size. I think that will benefit us greatly.

Are you refering to the play where Kobe had the ball out in the corner with Battier on him, Pau was at the top of the key. Miller sagged down to the block to cut off any thought Kobe might have of driving. It looked to me that Miller thought that one of the guards was going to cut off the pass to the high post. Either he made the mistake or someone else did.

Point is though, that was less about Miller's ability as a defender as it was a miscommunication on the team defense.
