I'd like to say go for the 3, but it's too easy to second-guess a decision after a loss.

The Lakers have a ton of lengthy players, and according to the commentators, they were the best 3 pt. defending team in the league last season. Not so easy to get a three-point shot off as one might think.

IMO trying to sneak in Brooks for a layup was a surprise move that might have worked if Brooks wasn't so gassed.

It really depends on your players. Since we have some great shooters, I would go for the win.

In addition, it doesn't make much sense to go into OT even AB made that shot. I mean, with Yao fouled out and we were playing badly in the second half, you can imagine we are not going to win in the OT even if we are there. So, why not take a chance on winning in the regular time?

Gasol had 5 fouls at the end of regulation. If he were to have drawn his 6th foul in overtime, the Lakers wouldn't have had anyone to protect the paint.

I would have gone for overtime too.

The only thing is, the Lakers have that one guy, um...Kobe Bryant?

Also, Shannon Brown could still be riding his hot shooting into OT, so that would have been a problem.

The turning point of this entire game was when we were up by like, 11 points, and instead of increasing the lead to 14-15 points, we let them score 6 points to get within 7.

True champions play to win. Not to just be a good team. That was the difference in this game tonight. Instead of drawing up a play to win the game the Rockets drew up a play to tie and in that they end up losing altogether. Makes sense.

Did you see how they were outplayed in the second half? I don't think they can win in OT even AB was somehow able to score the tie.

I don't know....game of runs....after they hit all those bombs, and went up 7 with 2 minutes to go we stormed back to take the lead.

I would have taken my chances in OT......why not?

Heck, they could have put in Hill and Jeffries in OT as fresh players.......we are loaded, run those lakers into the ground.

IMO, rockets play better w/o pressure. They don't do well in the 4th, certainty not in OT. Anyone have stats of OTs played against elite teams? We have close-to-allstar players in AB and Kmart. But none of them can be the closer at this time. Maybe given more time, AB can be that guy considering that he has improved a lot in the last two years.

So there was no pressure when they were down 7 with 2 minutes to go, and came back to take the lead?

It staggers me that folks are so blinded around here that they ignore the truth to try to fit a game's outcome on some mythical agenda.

The Lakers made more shots....the end.....they made more....and it was not their star players, it was their role players that outplayed ours...

Our starting unit b**** slapped them around like the has been champs they will become this season....

If we had Kyle Lowry to give AB a rest, the Rockets win that game by double digits.

Let's not worry about one game where we are still finding chemistry, and yet nearly stole the champions lunch money in their own building.

Definitely an "interesting" play. Giving it to AB down low isn't exactly playing to our strengths.

    (sigh)

The play worked perfectly as designed, AB messed up on his positioning, he was about 1 foot too close to the baseline, it was designed to give him a quick wide open layup without even having to dribble.

It was wide open...but AB was out of position and had to dribble and because of that, the play failed.
