http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-knicksdraft102610 Article was crazy long and in-depth so I didn't post the whole thing. Allegations look serious especially with Brandon Rush backing them up. If the league picks up on this then worst case scenario the Knicks lose future draft picks much like the Timberwolves did after their illegal contract negotiations with Joe Smith a couple years back.
What I'm about to say is not remotely the same situation, but we all saw what happened to the Twolves losing 5 years worth of draft picks and they still havn't/might not recover.
what if the Knicks lose their pick this year, so the Rockets can't pick swap with them? How do you pick swap with a pick that doesn't exist?
Years? They are pretty much pick-less for the next 2 seasons. Now with these allegations they could lose at least a couple more first round picks. We know the current Knicks roster will not win a championship, nor do they have a favourable chance of making the playoffs. Naturally, being a crappy team guarantees higher picks, but with their picks in the next couple of years (and potentially more) gone, these guys are dead set with the current roster. This current Knicks roster will probably be the best roster they'll have in the next 4-5 years. They might sign Carmelo or even Chris Paul, but even with those guys their odds of winning are still slim. Not to mention, they'll have to carry their contracts for the next 4-6 years.
no wonder they were so free when it came to chucking us their picks... maybe they knew something we didnt................
I highly doubt that would be the case. The Knicks already got benefit in those picks, having traded them (with some protection), so I doubt the NBA (if they do anything) would punish by taking picks away from the Knicks that they aren't likely to have anyway. I don't know though... just an opinion.
NBA won't take away a pick that doesn't belong to the Knicks entirely. Besides if you read the article, it says that the consequences will probably just be a hefty fine.
no way the rockets get punished for something another team does. that only happens in the playoffs (eg mavs stealing the ball while out of bound)
Yes, the truth just came out... hence the thread. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=5730927
I doubt they touch that pick. But, if they did, they could just let the Rockets take the better of the two draft spots, and then obliterate the other. Not that hard.
