That's what kills me. I've been in the middle of the pack and our waivers go to the bottom of the league first so I haven't been able to pull off many waiver wire upsets.
I know waivers are the key to winning. I was responding to you pointing out Lil Pun's perceived draft failures, as your team is heavily composed of waiver pickups (save for AD, Charles, Moss, Witten and Daniels, and maybe Ryan). Lil Pun happened to get screwed by MJD, Pierre Thomas and now Romo. **** happens.
Neither of my leagues has waiver periods. The yahoo league I'm leading(Moe's PPR league) has teams making a lot of moves. My facebook league not so much. If I had created additional roster spots I'd have McFadden and still have Owens and be sitting extremely pretty. Big regret keeping Marion Barber on my roster for 6 weeks before finally pulling the plug.
That makes a huge difference, especially if the league is active. There are only a handful of good waiver pickups every week, and most of those players will be gone by the time your turn rolls around.
Need a bye week running back since Turner + McCoy are unavailable. Which of the following waiver RB's should I get? Right now my priority on waiver wire is as follows: Reggie BUSH vs. PIT Donald BROWN vs. HOU LeGarrette BLOUNT @ ZONA Danny Woodhead vs. MIN Darren SPROLES vs. TEN
Yeah, it is active as all 12 teams are very seriously into it. We don't do it for money but there is a trophy that we spent $350 on and the winner gets it. For the last 2 years the same person has won it and he actually looks in good shape to make it a 3-peat.
My league is not set to where all players are on waivers with a 1-2 day waiting period before one can be added... Its first come first served... With only dropped players going on waivers... I may change that next year though... Although that would certainly limit the number of moves people make if every pickup you make burns your waiver priority spot.
Haha! Got Pierre Garcon on waivers! Now I'm faced with a choice (pick 2): BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Pierre Garcon, Deion Branch and Mike Wallace. I'm leaning towards Wallace/Garcon, especially if Fred Taylor is back for NE.
Garcon is a for sure play this week with Collie/Clark hurt and facing the terrible Texans pass defense. I like Branch over Wallace because Wallace is so dependent on catching that 1 long pass to be productive from a fantasy standpoint. My wife got Garcon off waiver and traded him for Keller(She had Clark, so she needed a TE)/Britt. She also traded Bush as part of the deal. I hope it was a good decision. Unfortunately the guy she made the trade with plays me this week and I think Garcon is going to have a good day.
I managed to make up for my loss of Jermichael Finley somewhat last week by snagging Owen Daniels off the waiver wire while he was on a bye. Looking for him to become a big time TE down the stretch. I like what I've seen in his past two games.
Man, I wish someone would drop him in the league I had Dallas Clark. Someone dropped him in my other league, but I already have Vernon Davis... though OD would probably be a better back-up than Visanthe Shiancoe.
You have a scary squad!! Mine consist of: QB-Kitna/Vick/Flacco RB- Foster/Bradshaw/Best/Mcghee/Ward WR- Randy Moss/Jennings/D Jackson/Vicent Jax/Sid Rice/David Gettis TE- Droped Celek and added Jacob Tamme K- no need for a kicker Def- Tampa Maybe we should join a 12 team squad for fun.
I think one of my teams is quite scary as well... but it never seems to perform. QB - Matt Schaub (no back-up necessary at this point) RB's - Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Reggie Bush, CJ Spiller WR's - Pierre Garcon, Miles Austin, Mike Wallace, Deion Branch TE's - Vernon Davis, Visanthe Shiancoe (hopefully replacing with Owen Daniels) D/ST - Giants, Rams K - Neil Rackers That's why I really have decisions every week... I'm pretty deep at WR specifically and with two RB spots (obviously going to Charles/Foster), 2 WR spots (debatable every week), and a RB/WR flex spot... decisions must be made! And best of all, that team is named "Cushing's Juice" and uses this picture for a logo:
I don't know how you guys do that. I would never join a league without a 1-2 day waiver period. There is always at least one person in the league that is glued to his laptop every Sunday. How can you go to a viewing party if you know someone at home is firing away on Sunday picking up players?
Yeah ... look at my snake bitten squad: QB - Tony Romo (RIP). Looking to snag Fitzpatrick and Stafford off waivers now. RB - MJD (fantasy poison), M. Lynch, Felix Jones, The Law Firm WR - Miles Austin (argh), Hines Ward, Malcolm Floyd, Welker, Garcon TE - J. Finley (RIP), O. Daniels, T. Moeaki D/ST - On rotation K - On rotation So of course you'd think that I should be having a pretty good season with Romo, MJD, Miles Austin and Jermichael Finley starting every week. Wrong.
You're not allowed to drop players that are "playing". For instance. If it's Sunday afternoon and Tony Romo gets hurt, you couldn't drop him and add someone else until Monday at midnight. Which presents its own set of problems, I suppose. But nothing can happen in terms of add/drop on gamedays for the particular players which are playing.
