David Thorpe has picked us for obvious reasons Arnowitz and Sheridan have always had a soft corner for us . its good that at least a few writers understand how good we are ..in the SW division ie
Lol...haha..... I'm just trying to tell things from a really objective point of view. I'd love to think the Rockets can win this and win that..but the truth is thats not gonna happen. But the thing is we're a team on the rise...so I'm cautiously optimistic right now. We need that ONE MEGA TRADE to get into the Elite.
Ok, I can respect that. I agree that we are not elite just yet. I guess I am more inclined to throw caution to the wind and let my optimism get the best of me. Everybody likes their steak a little different.
Poll is interesting. When you ask which team is gonna win our division, no doubt Mavs will be the favourite. But when you ask which team has the best chance to beat LA and win WCF, I doubt you will see a single vote for Mavs. Rockets on the other hand? I'm pretty sure I saw a couple votes out there not so long ago.
Sorry to break it to u but we aren't winning 55 wins. You're right about that. We are going to have 58-62 wins.
W22 do you work for ESPN??? lol, its fine to be cautiously optimistic but to say this team is not going to get home court is pretty off.....our team is pretty stacked and extremely well balanced even if we dont get that MEGA TRADE...i think your underestimating the Rockets and the team on the rise is OKC the rockets have veterans that have been to the playoffs plenty of times the only rockets on the rise that will be part of the rotation are Chase and Jordan
Hmm..I know what you mean. I know a lot of fans are really wanting to throw out their support and hail our team as the next big thing. Well I'd love to join in the parade. But I'm controlling myself until I can honestly say we've arrived. In the past I've had MASSIVE expectations for the team with T-Mac and Ron, even after Yao got injured in that 07-08 season. I thought the Yao injury meant nothing and the team can still reach massive heights without Yao. But I guess I've learnt to become a smarter observer of a fan. I don't blame the fans who really thinks we are championship material though..after all being positive about our team is an awesome thing. I just hope I'll join in the train sooner than later.
As you know, I'm not easy to convince But the West is brutal this year..the Rockets will have to be top 2-3 for me to be convinced.
and Courtney Lee trained with Thorpe I don't understand how Spurs got 5 votes and we got 4. I don't even know how someone could predict the Spurs. It seems more like a Mavs-Rockets fight for the top spot to me. I'm guessing it'll be a close battle between those 2- it may not be clear at the beginning but I think when the end of the season comes it will be us and the Mavs depending on the last 3 or so game outcomes for the division title - as long as we stay healthy
So essentially by stating that this Rocket team will win 55-60 games, you believe this to be the greatest Rocket team ever assembled? What makes you think this Rocket team is remotely capable of 60 wins? The fact that Yao is coming off yet another foot injury and hasn't played ball in over a year? The fact that Yao is essentially going to miss, by mandate almost 25 percent of the regular season? Or the Fact that Yao is going to be limited to half a game in the games he does play, assuming he doesn't reinjure himself? The fact that this team has to learn from scratch how to even play as a team with Yao, and Martin building chemistry with zero minutes logged with these two together on the court? Was it the signing of Brad Miller that has you so believing of 60 wins? Seriously, this team is going to have growing pains. This team has to play with Yao most nights, and change gears and not play with him a quarter of the nights. Does this sound like a recipe for success? The last time I watched AB and Yao together AB had no idea how to even get Yao the ball successfully, consistantly. Ill be thrilled if this team plays hard, puts up 50 wins and squeaks into the playoffs. Its not about this year, and some of you are in for a reality check come season time. That in no way is meant as a way to disparage this team, but your seriously on crack if you think this team will eclipse the wins totals of any Rocket team ever. Barring seriously problems from the Spurs and the Mavs, the Rockets are not going to win this division, but who cares. Play hard, build team chemistry, get into the playoffs and its all about next year. This all depends on things standing pat that is.
dallas can win the division but will once again get handled in the playoffs like they did against the spurs. in the playoffs you need a lowpost threat not a 7 footer chunking up 3s. If we can stay relatively healthy (yao). we'll be ok
I don't care who wins the division, as long as we have a crap together during the playoffs, and Yao can still walk.
I don't understand the Spurs love. They were 7th seed last year and are only going to get worse, barring an amazing come back season from Jefferson, which I don't believe is the case. With that being said, Rockets, 53 Wins, 5th seed.
they have brendan haywood and tyson chandler at the center spots this year. that is a MASSIVE UPGRADE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS over Erico Dampeer.. Heck, even Tyson Chandler himself is MASSIVE UPGRADE OF VERY BIG PROPORTIONSS over Ericka Dampier. The only way we'll win any playoff series is by scoring, not defense. Thats why I suggest players like Battier be traded for legit scoring threats like an Andre Iguodala.
IIRC the Spurs had a lot of trouble with injuries to their big three last season, particularly Ginobili. They've had the summer to heal and they've still got a good group of role players around them. (a better adjusted Jefferson, a more experienced Blair, Splitter.) I wouldn't stick a fork in them just yet.
I don't expect this team to win the Southwest division, but it wouldn't come to me as a surprise at all if they did win it. Team is still young, Yao is getting back with limited minutes, and the west is better than last year.
