When I go to pick my daughter up from daycare, I usually tune into 97.1 with their old school rap mix. Not the best, but they sometimes play some great older rap. 97.9 gets my vote though.
I am normally listening to 94.5 The Buzz.......but as far as rap goes, 104.9 is better in my opinion, but their signal sucks, just like 97.1. If you go 40 miles out of town you cant get them, but 97.9 and 94.5 you can even get in San Antonio half the time.
I've never heard 97.1 cause their signal is too weak. I'm not a big R&B fan so I prefer 104.9 over 97.9
I vote 97.5 I use to have 97.9 and 104.9 on my presets but they been booted 97.9 for 97.5 [because i listen to it more but it is only 2 clicks away] 104.9 got booted off for 90.9 Tavis in the morning Rocket River 97.5
I rarely move away from the AM dial. In the rare circumstance that I do, I listen to mix 96.5, Rock 101 and the eagle 93.7....
90.9 is KTSU -- mostly jazz and some classic r&b. They have some good NPR jazz shows as well. I'm almost always at the lower left end of the dial -- 88.7 (classical and NPR), 90.1 (Pacifica) and 90.9.
Really? I didnt know that 90.9 played rap on friday nights. I'll have to check that out..........although normally I dont listen to rap unless I am drunk.
104.9 easily.... 97.9 plays too many soft R&B crap. Whatever happened to "House Party Radio", I think it was 100.7 or something... That station rocked!
Turned tejano. I like 104.9 better because they play some of the local H-town rap along with some old school stuff and leave out the R&B makeout music crap.
104.9 without a doubt! "The Box" is out of control with all the damned commercials! I'm not sure how 104.9 does it, but they don't nearly have as many commercials! Plus, 104.9 plays more newer songs than 97.9. "The Box" should be embarrassed at having let themselves become too "corporate".....
Whice ever one is playing the best song is the one I listen to, I have all four of those channels programmed, so when one is playing a lame song with the press of a button I can just switch. You guys should do that too, it would make driving alot safer.
97.9 is the third most listened to radio station in Houston, behind 102 point freaking 9! yeah, 102.9, and sunny 99.1. I think it's third. I could be wrong.
If I'm not mistaken, which I could easily be, they were the same station. Just they had two different station numbers. I think I remember their adds saying..."104.9 and 100.7 House party radio" or something like that. I could be wrong though.
You know the station is ghetto when it broadcasts on two frequencies like 104.9 (105.3 in Galveston).
It was in the Houston section of the Chronicle when it said that Sunny 99.1 was bumped to number 2 in the arbitron ratings, or whatever it is called. Second to a Hispanic talk radio station.
