As I began to read this thread and think of my favorite moments (block on starks, WCF/robinson ect . . .) I agreed. The other one I like to think about is a close game early in Barkley's first season with the Rox. Dream took over down the streach: blocked shots, huge rebounds, the dream shake, everything! Rockets Win! After the game interview with Barkley: he said something like, "Dream is amazing, he can have the number 34, he deserves it!"
    Too cool!

Also, when I was in 8th grade he came to my middle school (Gregory Lincoln) to film a shoe commercial. He walked through the courtyard during lunch and 50 kids surounded him. I jumped of a bench and touched his head, I thought I was cool . . . At the end of the day we all gathered in the auditorium and he came out and said, "Stay in school, study hard" . . . and we went nuts!

Dream is the reason I started following the Rox!

Three highlights stand out from the many I have seen during the long Basketball Career of Hakeem.
    a) He blocks Jabbars Sky Hook.
    b) He blocks Jordans three pointer.
    c) He sits there reflecting after winnig the Championship.

I have many favorite Dream moments, but the ones that sticks out are.

    1. In the playoffs against the Jazz, I believe it was in 95 when three players for Utah jumped for a rebound (Malone, Carr, and some other guy) Then Hakeem came out of nowhere and SLAMMED over all of them, their heads were by his arm pits, thats just how high he was up.

    2. When Hakeem was selected to play for Dream team of 96" (he would of been there earlier but he had just got his citizenship).

3.The pic that HeyPartner posted, not pic itself but the entire game. At that time Hakeem was fastening for his religous beliefs and he had liked 36pts and 14rbs. After the game Barkley did nothing but give him praises about how simply amazing he was and had nothing during the game or before it but water, because thats all he could have (I still have the Chronicle for that game, with that picture on the front of the sports section).

4.The All Star game I believe was in 97".Toward the end of the game Shaq shot a three at the Eastern conf. basket and threw up an airball; the West rebound got the ball to Hakeem and he shot a three pointer, and it went in as if he done it on a daily bases.

    5. Hakeem welcoming Clyde to the Rockets.

    6. His last game with the Rockets was definitly one of my favorite moments to remember him by (24pts 9rbs).

i got two cant ill never for get either of these moments since i witnessed them in person.
1st. regualar season game vs seattle Dream gets 3 maybe even 4 blocks in a row right underneath the basket. unbelievable i was right there by the basket. that was my 1st rockets game in person

2nd. dreams last game as a rocket vs minnesota. rockets played possibly their best game of the season. for this special occasion. the fans were into. dream got a standing O. plus it was bobblehead night. that puts it over the top.

i also will never forget dreams block vs rod strickland. it was the best block that ive ever seen untill this year when MJ surpassed it

Do remember when Hakeem came into the league and the twin towers were going to make Houston the "team of the future".

They were right after all, just took a little longer.

But I have to admit, perhaps one of the greatest moment in Rockets history, and surely one of Hakeem fondest memories has to be the Ralph Sampson shot that dropped in to beat the lakers.

    That was just madness.

ok now i know i must've paid attention to the rockets before 93-94 (which is when i became a watch every game no matter what type of fan) b/c i wrote about how good hakeem was in my journal in 2nd grade (89-90) and remember the goggled hakeem and chaney getting fired and all but i really don't remember much game action from before 93. however, one thing that i've always thought i remembered was hakeem blocking a jordan 3 at the buzzer of a game and it sealing the win for us. was this it?

    now for my moments

    1. the whole WCF vs robinson. hard to top this.
    2. the tip in vs orlando. i was caught up in clyde's initial shot and thought the tip was after time had expired. damn that was one happy moment when i looked at the clock in the corner and saw 0.3 still left.
    3. the kj/strickland blocks. which one was better. who knows and who cares. still the best i've ever seen. how he caught up to strickland who was already going the other way is amazing and the fact he even tried to go after kj is amazing.
    4. the quadruple double. i think this was from like 90 or so and i'm pretty sure i saw the game so i guess that's like two pre-93 memories. and then he got screwed out of another one b/c they took one of his assists away. those bastards.
    5. the starks block. hard to put this up here since it really didn't get me going like any of the others ( i really wasn't sure what happened b/c i was just so damn excited when it fell short into OT's arms) but it may be the most important moment in houston sports history. think if his fingers didn't hit it and it went in. would houston ever have had a title?

and wasn't the rockets killer nate "whoops, i just dropped 5 threes , whoops i just got seven steals, and oh **** i just took off from the free throw line and dunked it against houston" mcmillan aka nate "damn i can't believe the refs are letting me get away with all this holding and reaching against houston" mcmillan.

I love RC Cola explaining one of hakeems great moves. The man was past his prime then, but he had moves that no one has had before.

the 1994 western conference finals. i think it was game 2 vs the jazz. i was at SRO over at Willowbrook watching the game with my dad and Cousin/Brother. We were sitting out in the parking lot watching the game on two or three big screen televisions that were on a truck. During the pregame ceremonies, the commish, David "I am the Union Killer" Stern was presenting the MVP hardware to Hakeem. Dream accepts it, but he accepts it with his team mates, so he gets all of them to come hold it up with him.

My favorite dream moment happened on an All-star game. I forgot which year it was, most likely the first year after MJ unretired the first time. In the first quater, MJ was shooting a baseline jumper on the left side. Dream jumped up, but just when he was going to block that ball (still in MJ's hands) he retracted his arms. I guess he suddenly realized that was an all star game and blocking was no good.

One of my favorite moments was a play in 1995, game 6 in Houston vs the Spurs, third quarter. Hakeem posts up the Mermaid, steps out to catch the pass, pump fakes a jumper, drives to the middle, cut off by Vinny Del Negro and Avery Johnson, he quickly spins 180 degrees back baseline with DRob and Vinny hanging on him, and nails the sweetest looking fadeaway EVER. It's still the most beautiful move I've ever seen on the court, so fluid and graceful.

Almost forgot, I had to mention the tip that Hakeem had put in, game one in the 95 NBA Finals. That was simply amazing he caught everyone else flat footed. You could tell he even surprised him self how quickly he got the tip, by the look on his face.

I have to go with the dismantling of robinson. Man he put it on that fool.

His last game as a Rocket was awesome too. The building was electric!

the quadruple double...that's when i really began to realize how special he was, even if the national media never game his due

1996 against the Phoenix Suns. The camera pans down to a trotting dream making his way off the court with a wry smile on his face after forcing the Suns to game 6. Just from that expression, I could tell that he knew the Rockets had the Sun's heart.

I don't know if u guys consider this a greatest moment but I like when Hakeem is in those commercials showing his moves dominating other center whilst u hear the music in the background. I also like when they had the interview with Shaquille O'Neal when he said " If I was to b compared to any center in the league, i would love to be compare to Hakeem Olajuwon because he's just the best". That was just sweeeeeeeeeet lol.
