There weren't a lot of firings last year but this coming offseason they will be many. I think Wade Phillips, Jack Del Rio, Norv Turner, Mike Singletary will be fired for sure. John Fox can't be fired because he will be a free agent at the end of the year but he won't be back in Carolina. Same thing with Marvin Lewis. Eric Mangini will likely be fired as well giving Mike Holmgren chance to bring in his own guy. The next guys on the list that could lose their job are Lovie Smith and Tom Cable. They could be 10 plus coaching changes.

The only ones I feel close to 100% about are Singletary and Turner.

Wade Phillips should be fired now, so I guess he is not going to be around next season.

I think the 49ers have more faith in Singletary so I think they will not fire him.
He doesnt deserve the job, but he is going to keep it.

Norv Torner should be be fired too.

I don't think Wade Phillips will be fired at the end of the season. Mainly because he won't make it that long.

No one mentioned Del Rio yet? That team quit on him last year and aren't even trying anymore.

Cable is probably gone unless yesterday wasn't a fluke - Oakland's only bringing in 42k at home.

Tampa Bay will probably end the Raheem Morris experiment.

    Carolina needs to clean house.

Wade Phillips is absolutely gone, along with Garrett and the rest of his staff. He'd have to make the NFC championship game to save his job at this point.

Wasn't Garrett the Coach in Waiting?
I thought part of the deal to not leave was he would get the Big Chair next.

Agree with list although I think half will stay...I can't see the bears collapsing and childress will find a way...Mangina is out and so is Phillips...the chargers will find a way too...

 First ever 3-1 start? BEST RUSHING OFFENSE EVER?

    I agree with this.

Also, why do you ask "at the end of the season" if it's not even halfway through?

This is Raheem Morris 2nd year and he has a young Tampa Bay squad who are currently 4-2. Why would they get rid of him?

That is what was said when he was first hired as the OC. After the results with him as OC I don't see how they could promote him.

I think Singletary and John Fox are goners for sure. Del Rio should be, but the Jags may not try to hold on to him since he has 2 more years left on his contract.

Wade Phillips is next on the list, on very thin ice.

I think the Chargers and Vikings will turn it around and have a decent finish to save Turner's and Childress' job. Denver won't give up on Mcdaniels after only a 2nd season.

I don't understand why people are saying Tom Cable still. He's got that team contending at 3-4 and 2-0 in the division. Cable and Gradkowski have given Raiders fans at least A LITTLE to be excited about. Wins over the Chargers and Broncos are HUGE for that franchise, and Cable's attitude has a lot to do with it I think.

I think Marvin Lewis's time in Cincinnati is up. He focused too much of his efforts on being a counselor to wayward souls than he did on football. I think his propensity to take in troubled athletes ended up watering down his football team. That, plus the fact that Carson Palmer is clearly no longer an elite QB led to this team's demise.

As far as Dallas, I just don't know. I'm leaning towards believing that Phillips lasts through the season simply because there isn't a suitable candidate to take over right now. Phillips runs that defense, so by firing him, they would really be shooting themselves in the foot. But I'm thinking that he's 100% gone in the off-season, and Jerruh swallows his pride and tries to get Bill Cowher to come in.

How much of that is the fault of Lewis and how much of that is the front office's doing? (They don't have a GM, right? Just the owners and the smallest scouting department in the league?)

I honestly don't know who's M.O. it is to pickup the high mental risk, high reward players, but it has been going on consistently for a while now.

If Lewis was the one pushing for the troubled players, then he made the bed he's been sleeping. And he won't be re-signed after the season is over.

But if the owners pushed for those players time and time again, I can't fault him as a coach for having to spend so much of his time as a babysitter. And he won't re-sign after the season is over out of frustration.

If they both like to pickup the headcases? Go go Bungles! Re-sign and stay the course!

Phillips is gone unless he turns the team around and makes the playoffs.

McDaniels' seat is getting warmer, but I think the front office will play it out one more year.

I think Norv is safe in San Diego, since AJ backed him over Marty, and AJ is never wrong. :)

I thought Del Rio should have been fired last year, so I'm already baffled that he has a job. When is his contract up?

Singletary should go back to being a linebacker coach... maybe become a defensive coordinator, but certainly not a head coach.

They are good as gone . . . only miracle will save their job.

    1. Wade Phillips (Dallas), he's gone the day the Cowboys are out of playoff contention. That team should've at least been in the Super Bowl once with all that talent. So is Jason Garrett. Even Dallas does make the playoffs, I still think Wade might be on his way out.

    2. Mike Singletary (SF), this has been a really disappointing year for them, especially since most of their losses have come in very close games and some bad mistakes down the stretch really hurt them. I really thought SF sealed their own fate, when they did not go after better QBs in the offseason. I do not know why they are so married to Alex Smith. He's decent, but he can't like other QBs out there, he seems like a good backup. Also, their defense has been too erratic, been very good at times and pretty poor at others.

    3. John Fox (Carolina), they haven't been relevant, since 2007 while they've had the talent to be consistent playoff team, they are a very erratic franchise. They're another team who probably should've went after a better and more reliable QB.

    4. Jack Del Rio (Jacksonville), He's acutally a pretty decent coach, his players don't have any heart though.

    5. Chan Gailey (Buffalo), They haven't shown any promise this season . . . and may decide to go another direction yet again.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Borderline

    6. Marvin Lewis (Cincinnati): The Brown family might finally end his reign there, if they finish poorly. If he finishes strong, it's a toss-up. If they make the playoffs, he'll get spared.

    7. Brad Childress (Minnesota): He will not get fired unless the Vikings absolutely collapse and end the season at 6-10 or 7-9. I think they'll get a wild card spot somehow. There's too much talent on their team for them to lose and really this is the hardest stretch of the season right now. Childress's danger year is probably next year or year after, since Favre is likely to retire and the Vikings will have a void at QB.

    8. Raheem Morris (Tampa Bay): They're winning right now, beating the bad teams, not bursting with talent with 2nd year head coach, and even have decent shot at the playoffs with very favorable schedule. If they finish 5-5 (at worst), and end up 9-7, they could sneak. They'd most likely have to pull an upset somewhere with Washington, Atlanta, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Seattle. Those teams are tough, but they aren't exactly unbeatable and most of them have looked very shaky at times (even Atlanta and Baltimore).

    9. Norv Turner (San Diego): They're a perennial playoff team, and often with one of the best teams conference and one of the most talented teams in the league. Yet, they never win anything besides their division and sometimes home-field through the playoffs. It's a hard to say.

I don't think the Bills fire Chan Gailey after one season unless they go like 0-16. Raheem Morris has a very young team and they are 4-2 so he is in good shape right now. I would add Norv Turner to the good as gone list. I know the Chargers always come back strong but they schedule remaining is tough and they lost a lot of talent this offseason. I also think Lovie Smith is gone if they don't make the playoffs. Only reason he was back this year is because he has a big salary.

Okay so please explain why Raheem Morris name has even been mentioned in this thread.

    Very confused.

Me too. I think most people had Tampa Bay's CEILING at 4 games this year, and they've already won that.

I think we've gotta add Gary Kubiak to the borderline section simply because if the Texans don't make the playoffs this year, I have a feeling there is going to be a VERY strong push to have him replaced.
