Finally. The Blazers and Bayless needed separation.

Solid move on NO part. Suitable backup for CP3 and replaces Collison.

Well they needed someone to back-up CP3. Too bad they have to give up a future first, but this seems like a move that needed to get done.

WojYahooNBA Hornets coach Monty Williams is a big believer in Bayless and it gives Chris Paul a backup and a guard he can sometimes play together with

The pick will never be higher then 8, it looks like. Just.........not sure what Portland's thinking here.

Probably. Coulda stayed pat with Collison and drafted the next Ariza or Bayless.

But how effective to the overall team was the prized backup gonna be, wasting away behind a guy playing 35+ MPG and causing PG controversies along with it? Why not get a guy your starting PG can play WITH? The issue wasnt dealing Collison, its WHAT they got back for him (Ariza).

Good deal from the Blazers standpoint I think. With Chris Paul it's highly unlikely NO will ever drop into the top 7 or 8 lottery-wise, but also unlikely that they make the playoffs, so 8-13 is the most likely range for that pick which makes it a decent grab.

I have always liked Bayless. I think that he will be good one day. Until we got Lee, I would have liked Bayless. I have seen him play a few games and I think he is almost more of a two guard. (which is probably his downfall).

Bayless for a future first is a good deal for both teams.

Maybe. We'll get an idea once we find out how much of Bayless' problems were due to Portland and how much were him. I'm also not sold on Collison yet while Ariza (in his proper role) was a key player on an NBA champion.

As a Blazers fan, I LOVE this trade because I wanted Patty Mills to get a spot on their roster. He would have been cut along with Pendergraph. Bayless was a waste.

While that is probably correct, i'm not talking about the Collison trade. It was stupid.

They NEEDED a backup PG, No NBA player with the modern schedule is going to hold down one spot for 40+ mins a game, for 82 games. They needed a solid backup PG this year. They can't be patient anymore with CP3's status, this needed to be done.

Keeping Collison around is good if you plan on CP3 leaving...trading him away is the move you make if you think you can keep CP3. While they did not get much back from Collison (which was the real problem, not the Bayless trade) it's clear they think they can convince CP3 to stick around.

Having Monty Williams as coach also helped out.

Williams knows how to handle Bayless.
