He signed with them right after miami on his way to cleveland. I remember he used to come on sirius full court press with ian eagle and kenny smith and talk about the deal. He also had a private used plane, lol. Once china relaxed some of their commerce laws, companies were trying to tap into the market and the companies inside were trying to reach out. What I have always said, Yao is more important to the nba than the rockets because he opened doors for the league. If the rocket got to keep all revenue generated from yao, then that would be one thing, but the international money goes into the 30 split revenue pot and shared by all.

China might have a larger population but I'd guess their basketball fans population is much smaller than the US, especially when we are talking about the population of fans who are passionate enough to spend a substantial portion of their paycheck for a pair of athletic shoes.

You really don't get it, do you? Fine. The Rockets have zero superstars, and there's probably at least five guys in the NBA that would need a security detail in Bejing.

I don't want Battier or Hayes to start on my team, but how can anyone not love the appreciation they receive? Just win? Cool, but dammit we come from a culture that chuckles at roadkill - we scoff at everyone who fails.

I'll toast Shane and Chuck all night long and be very grateful they were treated like royalty - and if it's because of Yao, who cares?

It seems to me that the Chinese have a greater appreciation for hard work and decency than most of my fellow Americans.

Chinese teams have hired Mo Taylor, Stromile Swift, Stephon Marbury, Bonzi Wells, among others, in recent years. All players known for hard work and decency.

And what don't I get? I love having Hayes and Battier on the Rockets. I am just pointing out that what might be a significant endorsement deal for these guys is not a significant endorsement deal for Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, who enjoy great fame already in both the U.S. and China (with rich shoe deals with established companies like Nike and Addidas).

Did anyone purchase any of these yet online. I have heard of alot of Chinese shoe scams online. I did go to the AntaPeak website, looks like they had a store in LaPorte Indiana, but closed down. I was going to order 2 pair and had been emailing the sales email, but its a gmail, which raised a flag. The guy was very helpful, but he says the paypal doesn't work, or can't order online. Tried to say send money Western Union. Right there is a Red Flag. I really want to buy the Battier and Scola shoes, but can't seem to find and feel comfortable ordering online. Any ideas of anyone buying some and their experience. I wish a store was Houston, you would think could. I want to support my Rockets and wear those players shoes, I bought Hakeem old shoes, and sorry to Say T-Mac...where else can you buy Rocket Player shoes. Any advise would be appreciated so we stay safe from Fraud. Thanks.
