Do you know who was the second worst rebounding team in the NBA last year? 9th worst? boston and charlotte. Houston actually finished in the middle of the league, without yao. We did lose Ariza, Landry, and tmac, who were all solid rebounders....but Landry was never a great one, hill can match him and chuck can surpass him. Where it's going to hurt is at the SG spot with Martin, but that shouldnt be enough of a difference to be a bad rebounding team and i think Lee will help in that area... Also, a team's rebounding number isnt everything...especially when you're shooting almost 50% from the field. You have to look at the difference in rebounding, which we definitely lost tonight, but that's mainly due to Blair's tenacity and Yao and chuck's absence. They are both affected by the other, so it's safe to say with those two playing rebounding isn't a weakness tonight, which means we would have won.
This. I hope Blair has a long 10 year career, and I hope the Spurs get rewarded for taking that crazy risk when they drafted him. All those whining for Dampier (well its just 1 guy really), do you even realize Jordan Hill is our 3rd string center? How much PT do you think is available when we have Yao, Hill, PP, Scola, Miller, Hayes and Jeffries fighting for just 2 positions? I'd rather Ish Smith to backup the PG spot then add another big man on this team. As Hill and PP, very encouraging results. Both looks like they're starting to become more aggresive. Highlight for me is HIll playing decent D, definitely light years ahead of his SL perfomance. Lets hope they can keep it up.
Hill and Patterson run the floor exceptionally for big men. I think at times Hill may actually fit in better with the second team than Miller. If we want to run, put in a lineup of Lowry, Lee, Bud, any PF, and Hill. It will make it difficult for teams to adjust. Miller is strictly a half-court offense player. Also, every once in a while Hill pulls out a Monster Rebound, the kind where it's almost highlight worthy. Swallows it up at it's peak with one hand. Dude's hands are massive. Hope he can give that sort of effort consistently. Also, Battier's offense still looks to be on the decline (from it's already low point). I don't know how people don't care about that when he misses wide open layups, tries to participate in the running game and just kind of awkwardly loses the ball...those are valuable points we are losing because he's in there. Anyway, it would be nice if his three-point shooting percentage can get back to the level of a few seasons ago. I thought he still looked pretty good defensively, so at least there's that.
Is the game over yet? Yao's expressions tells you everything you need to know about the importance of last night's game. DD
I didn't watch the game due to dishnetwork, but from what im reading im tired of the Rockets always getting outrebouned, Ever sinse we been playing in the playoffs vs the Jazz we been having the same issue, I really hope Erick Dampier comes here and helps us win a Championship.
Don't worry about Kyle, he's just pulling the ol T-Mac move. Fake back spasms so you don't have to play.
LOL at people who are overreacting over a preseason game. Personally, I couldnt be any more happy. We are finally seeing Adelman's offense at its best, adding B-miller is mostly the reason for this. We are seeing alot of cuts, and off ball movement, its great. Back then, Adelman's kings used to have a banner in their gym that said leader in layups and dunks. The reason for this is due to the princeton offense. They got so many open looks! This team is loaded. Practically, every player on our team is good. There are no scrubs on our team! Even Jared Jeffries and Ish smith, PP, JT, could contribute to our team if needed to.
Yeah basically the dude's living on borrowed time. He's like Ethan Hawke from Gattaca. At one point, and no one can say when, if he has a knee injury that will be it. That's why he got taken mid-second round, and honestly if he gives them this type of production for even one more year then those two years of solid solid role play as a backup big will have been worth the second round pick regardless of how the rest of his career goes. It was already a risk worth taking.
I didn't like the fact that we had no answer for DeJuan Blair. He really had his way with us. That sucked. Really, besides Yao, we don't have any big bodies. We have tall bodies, but not big bodies. That's a concern.
i didnt get 2 watch the game last night and evry1 seems 2 b freaking out about the 4th, but were our 3-stringers playing thier STARTERS? about the rebounding numbrs- rebounding is the only place where LA dominated boston in the finals last year, m just sayin...
