Can't. Lowry signed an offer sheet with the Cavs. Which we, of course, matched. But it means he can't be traded to the Cavs for a year after he signed that offer sheet.

Screw that, Varejao just got a contract extension for like 5 years. I rather have Jeffries and his expiring contract.
I can understand Gilbert's thinking. Sure, Varajeo makes a lot of money, but it's not like Cleveland is going to be able to nab a superstar in free agency anytime soon, so having cap room is not a major issue for the Cavs. And the fans in Cleveland LOVE the guy. For a team that just lost its franchise player, Gilbert NEEDS to hang onto perhaps the only other player with whom his fans identify. Makes sense to me. The question is: Who would you rather have after the February trade deadline?
How on earth are they gonna find playing time for both Hickson and then you got Antwan Jamison and Leon Powe coming back strong? Maybe they hand over the keys to Hickson as their starting PF?
i think cleveland realizes they need guys with "potential" than role players to compete. It's going to be difficult for them to build a team because they don't have many assets and they're not a popular FA destination with Lebron gone. The best route for them, besides being smart in the draft, is to go after guys who have potential, but may be had for role player talent, and hope they can turn that potential into stars or semi-stars. Enter Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Ish smith, and Budinger. All these guys have the potential to be at least be semi-stars. We have a big expiring deal in Jefferies to help match salaries. I can definitely see these two teams talking, at the very least. I don't see houston giving up Budinger, cleveland may not need Ish if they believe in Session, so i think Hill and PP are the most likely to go. Cleveland gets PF potential in return and gets rid of a long contract. Jamison will be traded within the next two seasons or leave as a FA summer2012. Hickson is already developing into a Paul Millsap type, stats wise, so he has good trade value that's still increasing. They could trade him for a semi-star at the SG/SF/C positions, hope Hill/PP develops and start to build their lineup that way. sessions SG SF Hill/PP JMcgee type talent? Obviously it's not going to win them any titles and is definitely a work in progress...but they have a misfit team right now. Jamison is a solid scorer, but he's not a long term solution. After Jamison and Hickson they have pure role player talent. For Gilbert to show fans they're worth following he needs to bring in better individual talent, little by little. He's already way over his head after promising that title.
In the latest ESPN mag, an Eastern Conference scout ranked the NBA's most hyperenergetic players that could fire up any city in the league: 1a) Noah 1b) Varejao 3) Gerald Wallace 4) David Lee 5) Nocioni
No, he is implying that he would rather have Andy. Jeffries expiring contract is useless after the deadline.
**** no. Varajao will always be one of my most hated players, even if he joins the Rockets. Just like guys like Derek Fisher and Andre Kerilinko.
