This is going to be tough because optimism has the Rox scoring 130points every night.

I the real world though I have the rotation and averages as follows:

    Yao - 16pts /7reb/24 mins
    Miller - 10/4reb/3assts/18 mins
    Hill - 4/3/12

    Battier - 10/5/28
    Bud - 10/4/20

    Scola - 17/9/28
    Chuckwagon 0/5/10
    Patterson 6/3/10

    Brooks - 17/6asst/28 mins
    Lowry - 8/4/20 mins

    Martin - 24/5 reb/28 mins
    Lee - 10/3 reb/20 mins

Damn! It's still 130 pts. Well why not?

I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that Yao will average 24 minutes per game.

It's a limit of 24 minutes. Some nights he will play less than that, so naturally his average will skew downward. If I had to guess, I'd say his average ends up closer to 20.

Ugh. Not every player will play every game (especially Yao), so you can't add up all the points and predict the points per game. Now if you multiplied ppg by # of games played /82, then you got something.

I think 16 may be a little high for Yao. He averaged 20 in 34 minutes in 08/09, so you're actually expecting him to improve...not going to happen.

I think Bud will pick it up a little bit.

Scola had 16 in 32 minutes last year...he's going to go down with Yao and Miller taking on more of the big man scoring.

Patterson won't get 10 minutes, atleast not for a long time.

Martin has only average 24 pts once in his career, and that was with 38 minutes a game. You're dreaming here.

Brooks had 20 in 36 minutes...with 10 less minutes and more scorers on the team, he's probably going to drop more then 3 pts.

Lowry averaged 9 in 23 minutes...you're close on this one.

Lee average 12 in 33 minutes last year...he's not doing the same in a 3rd the minutes.

What's interesting to me though is that almost everyone is going to get less minutes then they did last year, and probably score less too. If we don't win to cure all ills, got worry about some unhappy folks starting to grumble a bit.

You don't think Rick will push that limit? Come on CCR.....you know he is going to play him if he can help win games.

They need to know if he can play. They have to evaluate if he is worth signing, at least physically, to an extension.

However, Yao is such a cash cow for Alexander and the NBA that if can play any productive minutes at all he is worth a substantial contract extension.

Its not only Rick...Yao also wants to play. Every Article I read, its the Rockets managment who are holding him back on the limit.

Like someone else said already, it's not Rick or Yao, but the medical staff that is holding him back. If that didn't truly mean anything, then it wouldn't be an issue. It obviously does, because it is.

umm your numbers dont make sense.. You would be asking every player on the court to score every minute or two.
That is just not going to happen.

For the minutes you gave each play take off about 3-6 points for a more realistic avg.

There is nothing wrong with your numbers, the problem is that you can't add them up to get a realistic points per game total. The formula for that is a little more complicated than simple addition.

Just watch the first half tonight. Rick will run it very close to the real deal.

Watch the first half and then watch how they finish.

What's up with everyone sayin Yao only gonna play 24 min. max???

He'll play more when we really need it as that's in the playoffs, I won't be surprised if he starts averaging 30 min. near the end of the season to boost his confidence of averaging 30mpg.
