This year, I have done a lot of work that has had the Rockets as the focus. Most of the journals where I have a choice on have been about the Rockets. Just today, I finished a flyier for my computer class that advertised the Nov.2 game with Yao vs Dream. Unfortunenately, that's about all the respect I've given the Rockets in school work. Hopefully, I may be able to put them in another that will be great. So anyway, did you ever put the Rockets in your school work, or projects? Was any of them pretty cool or rememorable? If you didn't do the Rockets, but did a cool Astros, Oiler/Texan, or any team project, go ahead and list them here. I want to hear about some crazy work!
Are you in Highschool, I never would have known. That is quite a thing to do, to the Grouper!!!! You seem way more mature.
Yeah, I'm a sophmore. Does my high vocabulary make an illusion? (j/k) Speaking of vocabulary, my friends and I were going to start using the word corpulent, which means obese or fat. Its funny because most people would take it as a compliment instead of a put-down. Uh-oh. Went off-topic in my own thread. Now I will put down my wrath on myself.
Well, if you are a sophmore in highschool and you are calling yourself RC Cola on a net forum then you are destined for greatness. But I don't think you will get many responses to this thread because most of the people here have graduated college.
I used the Rockets once for a power point presentation back in high school. It was for economics and I showed the current Rockets players' salaries and how it affected the salary cap and stuff. It was pretty easy and it was actually fun, and, hey, I got an A, so I was a happy man.
I was hoping most people would remember their Hakeem Olajuwon clay replica, or essay on why the Jazz are cheaters. You know, stuff like that. I know a few others on here who are in school, as well. Maybe they did something. Or am I the only one who cares enough to include the Rockets in my work? edit: Yeah, go Shooter!
I did an essay on supply, demand and elasticity of pro sports tickets for an MBA economics class, and I used the Rockets for part of it. Using something that I was interested in made it enjoyable. An i got a A+
I share your sentiments. It is unfortunate that the ignore button does not work on threads, just on the individual's posts.
I did portraits of the Big Three for my sketchbook in Art class and wrote a paper over Charles Barkley in sophomore English. That's it, in terms of official academic work. There weren't that many opportunities to showcase the boys in blue... HOWEVER, I always had some sort of Rockets-related drawing on my binder. When CB4 kicked Shaq's ass back in '99 I made a "Barkley 3:16" cartoon that stayed on through graduation. Other pictures featured Malone & Stockton getting jumped, Hakeem blocking Jordan, and Pippen riding a Rocket(that was thrown away).
Once in Speech class I had to do a speech over anything.(this was 2 years ago) I looked for a topic and I some info on Yao Ming. Info like the Chinese wouldn't let him come play in the NBA. So I made a 6-7 minute speech on why China should let young Yao Ming come play in the US. I think it was my best speech that year so a lot of my classmates thought it was good also. I also said in it that I hope if he does come over that he would be able to play for the Rockets.
i wrote a paper for a technical writing class at Baylor regarding Bud Adams' proposal for a new dome stadium downtown that included information about the rockets...does that count??

She said, "We are raising prices to offset lack of ticket sales." LOL! Do sports tickets really operate in a competitive vaccuum like that? Seems like they still compete with other forms of entertainment.
I love it when young people try to use new vocabulary words for the sake of using new vocabulary words. I had a semi-friend(associated with people I hung out with then...probably currently unemployed and drifting in his 30s) who started his own policy where he would learn a new word from the dictionary(going in alphabetical order) daily and try to use it in a conversation with us(in which he usually tried to get philisophical and ended up coming across as truly ignorant). To make matters worse, the guy wasn't overly intelligent in the first place and he usually mis-used or mis-pronounced the newly learned words in his sentences. Sometimes, he would try to get fancy and work two or more in a single sentence. Being the college party animals that we were(and he was) at the time, all we could is laugh at him and his attempts. This is the same guy that would try to write a 15 page term paper in the span of 10 hours before it was due. Suffice to say he didn't do so well in college or with the dictionary policy he had. It was quite hilarious, however, to be in attendance of these conversations and watch him in action. The things some people will do to try and use new vocabulary words to appear smarter than they actually are .
