Bizarre. Her voice mail and her olive branch justification are so disparate that she comes off as crazy... but then again, Mrs. Thomas has long been a Tea Bagger before there was a Tea Party.

The victim of sexual harassment should apologize?

I'm going to guess she doesn't understand the concept of an olive branch...

This seems like a publicity stunt by Virginia Thomas to gain some relevance.

I think she recently spoke at some tea party events. Mrs. Thomas that is.

She's been involved in far right causes for decades and has recently founded "Liberty Central," which is another Tea Party front designed to funnel big money towards the dual goals of defeating Dems and fooling the rubes.

Exactly, which is why it's bizarre that we have Mrs. Thomas calling Professor Hill after all these years.

mrs. thomas didn't make this public, so it's hard to see how this is a "publicity stunt."

I never said it was a publicity stunt. I said it was bizarre.

Wait a minute, the woman calls and asks her to apologize and she turns it over to the FBI? Is that extreme to anyone else?

Was Hill threatened? Was she in danger? Was a crime committed?

    sound like she was.

i find it funny that Hill has not said a word since the hearing, yet Clarence and his wife have brought it back up.

I don't see what Mrs. Thomas did here worth criticizing. Maybe thinking that extending an olive branch is an appropriate term for asking for an apology from somebody who doesn't think they were wrong.

I think Hill calling the FBI is a little bizarre, but it's not that big of a deal.

    So... why is this news?

She was what? Threatened? How so?

This sounds like such a major non-story to me.

asking for an apology in this situation is fairly pretentious and 20 years later is just wierd.

taken without the 'for what you did to my husband' bit, it almost sounds like she's offering an apology.

but...yeah...pretentious and weird pretty much sums it up. When you 'reach out' after a period of time, it's usually to apologize yourself, or to forgive.

Sure, it's a little pretentious. But if she believes her husband is innocent, then she is/was probably pretty angry with Hill. So she's acting on the assumption that her husband is innocent and trying to forgive and make peace with Hill for what Hill did to her husband.

Ideally, she would be more cognizant of the likelihood that Hill stands by her story. But I don't consider that to be very bizarre.

Hill originally thought the phone call might be fake... a good assumption considering the bizarreness of the call.

It wouldn't surprise me if she gets occasional (maybe even a lot when the hearings were fresh news) weird phone calls and emails from wingnuts... the FBI probably has a file on some of those contacts.

Given her history, it's not unreasonable that she should err on the side of caution and let the FBI decide if the call is something to be concerned about or not. Once Mrs. Thomas acknowledged she was indeed the one on the call, then no big deal, except, of course, for the bizarreness of the event.

I was going to say the same thing, she probably just wanted to verify its authenticity, it doesn't really say why she turned it over

Didn't she pass the polygraph? I know it's not "reliable" and admissible in court, but the why the hell then does the CIA and FBI use them on their own employees? Justice Thomas never took one right?
