I used to like KRBE back in the mid 90's. Their morning show used to be ok a few years back, but they too have changed a lot. I believe there was a song written that has "KRBE" in it. The line goes something lie "Listening to a song on KRBE"
and the tookie bird!! i won $50 from 93Q with that stupid tookie bird deal they used to have with Jon Landers in the morning...i was about 8 years old! oddly enough...104 and 93 switched places...104 went back to pop and 93 went to country format...

It's been a while since I listened to Houston stations on a regular basis, but growing up in the late '70's KRBE was the station. I remember I was in the area about 10 years ago and tuned in only top hear really sucky music. Alas, another part of my youth gone.
I can take Malone in the morning...it's that gawd awful Maria Todd that makes me ill. I hate it when she tries to sing or hum a tune...she's horrible. Her gig as a PA announcer for the Comets is just as bad. os
It was horrible. the only reason I had ever seen them is that I was at my parents' house for Christmas in 2000, and there was Sh'Daisy followed by 98 degrees....I quickly excused myself from the room and proceeded to vomit.

KRBE is a sellout station. They'll play anything that's popular even if its not their format (pop). It's a formula that works and is copied by other stations across the country. For example, Mega 93.3 in Austin exclusively played dance (stuff you've never heard of unless you are in the scene), but now plays Pink and Avril Lavigne. Austin doesn't need a 2nd pop station.

Maria Todd is pretty cool and a good friend of mine. Sam Malone is a egotistical maniac that needs to be stopped. Cya! He would have you to believe that he came up with that, he is as big a fraud as Jim Rome is.
how can it be called a sellout station when its a Top 40 station...of course its gonna play anything thats popular...its TOP 40! now maybe if it was called 'we'll put stuff on the radio that many people have never heard before' then we'd hear a wider variety of music... but alas thats what Kazaa and WinMX are for. thank god for mp3s. theres a lot of good music out there and US radio stations arent playin it. now lets get some Travis, Coldplay, Air, and Sasha in the mix. as for Sam Malone and his morning show...his sometimes ultraconservative stance on things really annoys me to no end. and maria todd singing karaoke style to malone's keyboard backup..yikes!
