So is everyone basing their opinions after 4 PRE-SEASON games? Really! I mean we have yet to really see this team play together. We dont even know what the rotations will be. I am holding all judgements until I see them play together for at least a month. I hope everyone understands we are not going to have a 'perfect' squad. We are not going to have a perfcet starter and backup at EVERY POSITION. That has never and will never happen in the NBA. Seems like that is what everyone is wanting us to have. If the guy is not perfect you want to trade or upgrade the position. Lets keep it real. I think this team has great depth and really nice pieces that should work well together.
PF. big, athletic, average defense but elite offense. Namely, Gasol, Bosh, Amare or even Boozer, Randolph, David Lee. Hopefully Hill can be one of them.
I'm surprised also...Besides, in the evaluation, they forgot the lack of court vision, the low basketball IQ.
I dont see why our window is only this year and next. If you had asked me what our window was when Yao and Tmac were running the show, I would have said 2-3 years however the roster we have now is built to last and last for a while to come. You base this purely on the fact Yao really only has a couple more years in the league but IMO Yao is not the main cog in our wheel anymore. Yes we need him to perform if we are going ot contend, but if he doesnt come back to the level we all wish to see him at, I dont see it as such a MASSIVE deal like everyone else does... He either retires and we have about 15 mil in cap space (roughly? im not too sure) or he resigns for cheap... Either way we have the assets and flexibility in our roster (both financially and positionally) to make trades for a long while to come. What if Yao retires/resigns for cheap and then we get a top tier wing? Say a Granger with the cap space/assets we have accumulated and then sign an average centre for 6-7 mil? I dunno, I just dont agree that our window revolves around Yao, at least not anymore. The rest of our core is VERY young and already producing... Ps. Im assuming Scola plays at this level/similar level for a good 3-4 years - something that is very possible (barring injury) due to the way he plays... matty101
AB is the weakest. He's not clutch, not a good floor general, not a good passer. These are keys for current Rockets to success. KL is bad outside shooter, much worse than rafer.
Brooks can't pass worth crap. If our team fails, it will be because of Brooks. He is not a point guard; we can't afford to start him when we have Martin, Battier, Scola, and Yao starting. Martin is really bad play making/passing SG. Battier is a bad passing SF; same with Scola and Yao. Let me describe Brooks point guard play: 25% - Take a shot/floater 25% - Stand on the perimeter waiting for someone to pass him the ball so he can shoot a three (surprisingly, Brooks is really good at shooting three pointers) 20% - Dribble the ball ala TMac for 9 seconds then pass to Shane/Bud/Lee on the perimeter while standing on the three point line. 20% - Take some jab steps/attempt to perform a crossover, then pass the ball while standing on the three point line. 10% - Make a real assist play
What makes you say that Brooks has low BB IQ and bad court vision? These seem to generic terms people like to attach to low assist numbers.
Hmmm, a NY pick for Chandler would solve our current SF problem(if you want to call it that). I like the way he plays. If we couldn't get Randolph, Chandler would definitely be the close 2nd choice. Truthfully, he would be the better choice over Randolph, but....
