And he cheated and lied, imo. How do we know that he wasn't getting an edge over Ryans by using PEDs?

To each his own but he has to re-prove himself in my book.

I'll stick with Ryans > Cushing for the time being. That could change over time.

Regardless, the key point is that our defense blows and it just lost 1 of its 2 best linebackers.

i felt like we couldn't stop the pass or the run this game. i feel good about the comeback win but this 4-2 record is fool's gold.

So does this mean Cushing moves to MLB and Adibi takes OLB like in the first 4 games?

I think it is either that scenario or Kevin Bently (if healthy) takes over for Demeco. I have a feeling it will be the latter

It could mean a lot of things. The only "good" news is that even before Ryans was hurt, they couldn't look any worse on defense.

He did lead the team in tackles today and knocked Cassel down a few times

I must admit, we had no business winning that game, but damn!!! They pulled it off and good for them.

With Ryans out, we pretty much HAVE to make a deal before the deadline. Hell I'd even go after Merriman. He's a free agent and he definitely couldn't hurt this defense.

Very exciting game to watch (unless you like defense), storybook ending, 4-2 going into the bye. That's the end of the good news. Ryans, best defensive player, out for the season, and the Texan's defense is well not a defense, they are like a screen door on a submarine. How many draft picks and how much money did this organization spend on defense? They are so bad it is embarrassing. You just won't win many games in the NFL when you absolutely can't stop the other guys.

I didn't realize that. I guess we have to update the list of accomplishments of opposing QBs this season.

I believe somebody posted after the last game that out of the 5 QBs we faced, 4 of them put up their season high QB ratings and one put up their season high in yards.

Now, it's 6 out of 6 with the most recent QB having a career best performance.

This is become less a trend and more fact. And now we're getting run all over. And we lost Ryans.

People are saying that things can't get any worse defensively. I'm not sure I buy into that. Even if things don't get worse statistically, we would still be getting worse just by adding to the string of crappy performances. And the offense won't be pulling off comebacks regularly.

The mistakes on the DL have anchored this team in mediocrity. Say what you want about the secondary, but hall of fame CBs and safeties couldn't hold out over a full 4 quarters with the kind of pressure this DL gets on the QB.

I would guess that our secondary would still blow if we had an elite DL. They'd just blow a little less.

I think it's very clear that we have both a bad DL and bad secondary.

And we just got signficantly weaker at LB.

I guess anything can happen but it's really hard to see this defensive group making a significant enough turnaround after being awful for the vast majority of 6 games.

The D line has nothing to do with Kareem Jackson getting beat one foot into a receiving route or Brice McCain consistently releasing his receiver to nobody in the endzone
